Terry Hiscock is given as writer of 'Silver Coin' on Archie Fishers 'Sunsets I've galloped into' album. Does anyone know who he is, nationality, does he sing. Its such a lovley song.

Hi Terry Hiscock, was the lead singer in an early seventies U.K. group called Hunter Musket. 'Silver Coin' was also covered by Bridget St John.

Cheers Les

Thanks les B, I'll see if I can trace any info on the group. If anyone knows any more I'd be grateful

Hi there
Just stumbled across your request from way back about Silver Coin, a song I wrote in the 70's with Hunter Nuskett. I wrote it one afternoon in a house in Southend,I seem to remember and we played it at every gig with the band thereafter - mostly while touring with Ralph McTell. Always enjoyed singing it and have continued to do so over the years.
I think it's now available on a CD.
Cheers
Terry Hiscock

Hi, Terry
Good to hear from you. I saw the band at the Roebuck in Preston (possibly final gig?). Brian Dewhurst (now Brian Preston)who compered that night still sings "Silver Coin" occasionally. For a wehile it was Dave Walters' signature piece at Lytham Cricket Club and there are still a few people in this neck of the woods (Fleetwood/Fylde)performing the song. Never quite got my version into public performance, but I'll keep working on that.
All the best
Ross

Hi, My try at this song (which I've always loved) is posted on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdDnhrduJJk and I was dead chuffed that Terry Hiscock has seen it and commented. Regards Tony

Doug Mortor tells me that Hunter Muskett are re-forming for a few gigs: as to when and where I've no idea.

Saw Doug Morter & Jerry Donohue at Dartford Folk Club last night (15.6.2010) and reformed Hunter Muskett palyed a mini set and guested on 3 or 4 songs with Doug & jerry (mainly due to Doug's bout of laryngitis.)

Seemed in fine fettle, played 'Silver Coin' , wonderful encore of 'Jesus on the Mainline' and overheard Terry Hiscock talking about a November tour. Should be good.

Hello Ian, I'm doing fine these days thanks though never staked any claim to fame. Check out Doug Morter's website for Hunter Muskett's November tour dates and try to get a long one night. Be good to see you.
