AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH, it's time once again for all of us 'Cats who are: in the cage, feeling shame in the box, putting on the pads, knocking on the ice, sharpening the skates, thawing out the octpus, washing the white handkerchiefs, and digging out those team jerseys to CELEBRATE AND DANCE IN THE STREETS -- IT'S HOCKEY SEASON AGAIN!!!

Good luck to all teams and their athletic supporters -- may they hold up in the wash in the months to come ;-)

Not so much of it here in the UK, but my partner plays (amateur) and LOVES hockey!!! He's off to stay with pals in Dallas again in November and will be off to see Dallas Stars play again (he saw them in Dallas last Oct). I don't think he did one bit of sightseeing last year - just got as far at the first mall with ice rinks and played 'pick-up' hockey for a week! He was in heaven!!! He is now desparate to move to USA, as hockey is hard to come by over here - anyone in Dallas area need a 40 year systems analysis/programmer??!!!!

I have to say that depite the fact that Dallas has a pretty good pro hockey team, I can't imagine moving there to play hockey. Toronto, Montreal, even U.S. cities like Detroit, Chicago and Boston have way more available ice and leagues.

Where are you in the U.K.? I once played for a Toronto based team who toured Engalnd and Scotland. I wonder if I was ever in your arena?

Nope, we weren't there. Played in Streatham (London), Peterborough, Durham, Nottingham, Middlesborough, Whitley Bay in England; Fife & Murrayfield in Scotland. Had a great time.

Hey Steve - They're building more hockey rinks down here all the time. The interest in ice hockey has really exploded with the young folks around these parts. Even the high schools have teams that are turning out some very good players.

We have a great minor league system down here, too. Our team in Fort Worth has a great record of attendance, partly because they're good, and their tickets are a lot less expensive than the Stars tickets. *BG* 'Course, they play 'old style' hockey, not the namby-pamby stuff that the pro leagues are being forced to play now a days.

All in all, the Dallas-Fort Worth area has taken ice hockey to heart, so maybe Julie's S.O. would find it to his liking.

I'm glad to hear that. I know that the the old Central Hockey League had teams in Texas for ages, but I didn't think that they got much support. It's great to see the popularity of hockey exploding all over the world. It sure is a great game.
