Subject: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: kendall Date: 10 Oct 02 - 07:57 PM For anyone who was planning to go to Gordon's concert in Tamworth NH on November 15th, be advised that the promoter cancelled it after signing a contract. I decline to post her name here, but, if anyone is interested, pm me and I'll expose her. |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: Sorcha Date: 10 Oct 02 - 08:26 PM Kendall, I take it that Gordon didn't cancel the perf, but the promoter did? If it were me, I'd out here in public!! (I have one tomorrow I'd like to cancel but won't. It's not exactly a perf--which I don't mind--but a "presentation" on What is Old Time Music) |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: Charley Noble Date: 10 Oct 02 - 08:55 PM Hmmmm! Gordon Bok might be available for a 11/15 concert somewhere else in New England? Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: Skipper Jack Date: 11 Oct 02 - 01:13 PM I hope the promoter had a good reason to cancel?? It would be very interesting to learn what it was? As far as contracts go, there are time limits in which one can cancel without incurring a penalty. If the promoter cancelled outside the period, then I should think that they would be liable to pay back a percentage (if not the full amount!)of the agreed fee back to the agent? |

Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 11 Oct 02 - 05:39 PM What was the reason, Kendall? Ticket sales? Last weekend I attended a concert here in Nelson of Guys Can Talk, a trio featuring accordion, mandolin & fiddle, and keyboards. Attending the concert were some board members of the sponsoring folk society (5 of them), the keyboard player's wife, my sweetie and me. The concert went ahead and a wonderful time was had by all. I'm sorry that Gordon won't have the same opportunity. He's wonderful in an intimate setting. |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: GUEST,Melani Date: 11 Oct 02 - 06:25 PM Don't scare me like that! I've already got tickets to see him at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA on Oct.27. |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: Charley Noble Date: 11 Oct 02 - 07:24 PM Melani- Make sure your friends put in their reservations early, and ask (demand, cajole, whatever it takes) Freight & Salvage if they're willing to sponsor a workshop with Bok as well. I'm sure Bok would agree and you and your gang would have an even better time. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: kendall Date: 11 Oct 02 - 07:34 PM As I understand it, she kept dragging her feet delaying the return of the signed contract. Considerable office/secretary time and long distance phone calls finally prompted her to send it back. He is extremely busy this time of the year, and, of course, he couldn't book that date with anyone else, so, she has screwed him out of his fee. Her only excuse was that there was another performance of some kind that same night. Well, she should have known that from the start. He is too gentle to go the legal route, but, I would! |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 12 Oct 02 - 07:16 AM Gordon Bok's current tour schedule |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: wysiwyg Date: 12 Oct 02 - 08:50 AM The note on that schedule for the date in question is clearly from Gordon Bok, not the presenter, but how nice to have a phone number handy to let her know of the ticket sales she's just screwed herself out of! "You canceled someone? That's not done... But you canceled Gordon BOK????" ~Susan |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok cancelled performance From: kendall Date: 12 Oct 02 - 08:54 AM It is such a pleasure to see that carving of the two folkies and their guitars: (Gordon and Me) It hangs on my living room wall, and brings back memories of a sailing we did a few years ago. |
