Subject: who wrote 'Bad to the Bone'?.... From: GUEST,johnnyboy Date: 14 Oct 02 - 07:39 PM Not a 'folk" song perhaps, but who wrote it. I know who performed it but have seen it credited to Townes Van Zandt. Did he record it/write it? Johnnyboy |

Subject: RE: who wrote 'Bad to the Bone'?.... From: Bobert Date: 14 Oct 02 - 07:50 PM "Bad Boy" George, unless he found it on some obscure blues recording that Alan Lomax recorded 50 years ago that everyonr has over-looked. George has been known to pull some obscure blues tunes out, dust 'em off and breath a little Bad Boy into them... But ya' gotta love the guy... Bobert |
Subject: RE: who wrote 'Bad to the Bone'?.... From: khandu Date: 14 Oct 02 - 08:01 PM Well, I be danged...I thought either Sammy Davis, Jr. wrote it or Tom Jones. I suppose that you do know that before he got into the "What's New, Pussycat" crap-trap, Ole Tom was a fantastic banjo picker and on his first (now, impossible to find) album called "Front Forch Pickin'", Tom did his version of "Bad to the Bone"! Oh, yeah...Sammy did a cover of it also! khandu |
Subject: RE: who wrote 'Bad to the Bone'?.... From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 14 Oct 02 - 09:28 PM WOBH! I would have sworn it was a Howlin' Wolf or Muddy Waters song, but whatta I know? I ain't no bluesman. I ain't even no bluesman's son. I guess it's a tribute to ole George that it sounds enough like it could have been written by one of those cats to fool dilettantes like yours truly. Bruce |
