Subject: DC Area Catters Invited From: wysiwyg Date: 22 Oct 02 - 11:29 AM I know that with all the fear and upheaval caused by the sniper situation, you DC-area Catters are probably beacons of light to those around you as you try your best to carry on in these times. I salute you. But-- are there some folks who could use respite, time away, a bit of a retreat? Particularly, anyone for whom the stress is a health danger? Come to our wild, still-glowing-in-foliage hills. Or if someone in your circle of people you care about, needs to be away from all this-- send them. We have lots of room. PM if interested. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: DC Area Catters Invited From: Ferrara Date: 22 Oct 02 - 11:47 AM Ah Susan what a nice idea. We may yet take you up on it.... The next 2 weekends are spoken for and I'm happy to say, it's all good stuff, music and art and then more music. The Getaway was very good for my soul. Came back with some distance from all this hoo-hah (not the actual killings, but the related hype and media attention) and with a picture of rolling grass covered hills and spreading trees filling my mind. I told Homeless and his lady that I appreciated how patient and accepting and supportive they were, when it took Bill 3 hours to get them to the Getaway because his van was having problems and kept quitting. Homeless said something that will stay with me: "I learned a long time ago to be happy wherever I am. It was fine just to sit there and have a chance to talk." Will be looking for opportunities to practice being happy wherever I am. Rita |

Subject: RE: DC Area Catters Invited From: wysiwyg Date: 22 Oct 02 - 11:50 AM My dear friend Jack Hart (now passed on) was a young boy in London during the bombing in WWII. He told marvelous stories of the time he spent after being evacuated with many, many children, all sent to the country for safety. They were placed with simple farm folk who had volunteered their homes-- how can we not do the same now? ~Susan |

Subject: RE: DC Area Catters Invited From: Willie-O Date: 22 Oct 02 - 03:04 PM I didn't hear the s****r word once at the Getaway. Was shocked when I finally turned the radio on enroute home and heard the shootings are continuing, and another one today. |
