Is there anyone out there who has this album? I realise it's extremely rare - but I have a personal reason for trying to get a copy. I knew Trevor Crozier before he left UK to go to Malawi and he gave me his copy. Then I moved there as well and gave it back to him! I miss him a great deal and I would just so love to hear even a tape if that were possible?
Many Thanks
Hille

Don't recall seeing a Trevor Crozier thread before, so here's a good point for a tribute. Obviously you musical appreciation builds up from a lifetime of little incidents. But in my own case one stands out: hearing Trevor sing "Searching for Lambs", a very very long time ago, cemented into my soul a lifelong worship of traditional English song which has lasted unshably and made my life a load more fun than it otherwise might have been.
He also told me a joke (or rather showed me, it was mainly visual) a magnicently hilarious joke of insurmountable vulgarity, whose very essence was the crudest racism and sexism: so offensive that I have been very hard put in the last forty years to find any company in which I could legitimately pass it on.
Trevor was a one-off.

I have a copy on an ancient cassette tape (copied in Dubai, where it was legal!)

Greg: Trevor was, well, absolutely a one off - I want to weep sometimes when I see and hear what can pass as a Top folk act (E.g. Vin Garbutt? Best Live Act, Huh!) and think if only Trevor could know how much he'd be appreciated if only he were here .. Our town hasn't has a folk night since Trevor left to go to Malawi - but those hazy memories of terrific nights "Sing with A skinful" inspired me to start our Open Stage club which is nearly as much fun as we used to have on Trev's nights.

Pavane - if no one else comes up with a copy I wonder if your ancient copy would copy? The price for an album is $160 - way out of my league ... I surely would appreciate it.

Hille

Greg -- I've never heard of Trevor Crozier or Giles Farnaby, but I'm mightily intrigued by that joke!

Care to share it with us?

Cheers,
Michael

I have a copy as well, I think, though it might have been eaten by a cassette player at some time. If pavane can't find it, I'll have a look.

michaelr: firstly, the joke has to be performed, and cannot be written down.Secondly, while I occasionally permit myself a little vulgarity on Mudcat, this joke is not just a little bit vulgar. You'll have to find me in the flesh and get me very drunk indeed before you get to see this gem of traditional humour.

Bless you one and all - I'll PM Ringer to see if a copy can be made ...

Does anyone else play a Pandora (either on Mudcat or elsewhere music-world-wise) or was it only Trev? He used to leave the coffin-shaped case in the window of the Balmoral Wine and Cider Bar in Worthing on Sundays as a sign that the session was on/alive/happening etc ..

Greg, if you're ever down this way please make contact!!

NB: I've also just missed (being a first time user) Trevor's Broken Consort Album on Ebay :( & :( - there is also a very rare album of Breton music that he made - but I can probably get hold of that.

I surely think a post-humous appreciation/ appraisal/ whatever of Trevor is overdue ..

I have been listening to my tape (which I found and copied), and wondered if anyone has a full list of the instruments used.

I can hear what sounds like a bowed Psaltery, racket, and recorders, but many others I am unable to place.

Does anyone know where I could get hold of a copy (new or secondhand, vinyl, tape or CD) of "Giles Farnaby's Dream Band"? This was a collaboraion between the late Trevor Crozier's band "Broken Consort" and another group whose name I forget and which came out in the 1970s I think. It is a mixture of instrumental tunes on mediaeval sonding instruments, tunes from Playford's dancing master, "Helston Furry Dance", etc.

It also included the early music group, St George's Canzona. If you have money to burn, you can pick up a secondhand copy for a mere $300.

Where d'you find that, Pavane? The only Walhalla Records I have found is a defunct Dutch trance music label. I'd shell out regular pricefor a CD, but not $300 for an LP, I'm afraid.

HI
I was today thinking about my old partner in crime and music Trevor. He came up here to join me in a duo called "Crozier and Beard".We were initially to be called "The Rotters" as I used to wear his old school jacket at gigs.We had great tour and adventures in Brittany where he was known affectionately as "Mac Trevor".So now I am composing a tribute to him called "Mac Trevor the Magnificent".I also wrote "Trouble Over Bridgwater" for him/us in 1976 and we recorded a live album here in Poynton at the now defunkt Poynton Folk Centre. We had a row about him going awol a lot.I had to go to Abbey Road to help with editing the album, write the sleeve notes etc.He went off to Malawi to his Uncle Mac`s tobbacco plantation and we wrote. Then it stopped in 1995. I learned of his fatal accident from John The Fish 4 years after it. I have treasured memories and miss him a lot.We should have stuck together-but the lure of dosh in Malawi was too strong.RIP Trev Lad Joe Beard
