Subject: RE: BS: What are you listening to? From: Ebbie Date: 30 Oct 02 - 12:25 PM Bluegrass. My Rocky River Home by Tony and Gary Williamson. These days I cycle among three CDs: the one I'm listening to right now- there are a number of songs on it that I'm learning-; a live recording of Northern River, 5 bluegrass guys from Fairbanks and Anchorage that I hear live whenever I can, usually 3 or 4 times a year; and JustaPicker. Folks, you just gotta hear that man. It's true that that the CD is mostly non-vocal but it's wonderful. The picking is intricate, authoritative, true and consistent. I bought two copies with the idea that I'd give the one away, but to this point I have one copy on two different storys of this house and listen to it wherever I am. And Joanne Shaw, whoever she is, who does the two vocal cuts on the CD- Don't Think Twice, That's Alright and Anytime has a lovely voice, backed up with JP's picking and playing. And it's for a good cause: MUDCAT. Send him a PM- you won't be sorry. :) |

Subject: RE: BS: What are you listening to? From: mike the knife Date: 31 Oct 02 - 08:19 AM Howdy bflat- I thought the call letters were WFUV- Fordham University- "City Folk" is a wonderful program. (mebbe I'm wrong) Excellent station- I was proud to support it when I lived in NYC. I miss it very much & catch it via streaming audio @ home (GF's house, anyway) when I can. Right now I'm listening to coworkers hammering keyboards & making breakfast arrangements... no music in the office, sadly. They Might Be Giants are actually Giants. High-concept, High-Geek-factor, but they are amazing. |

Subject: RE: BS: What are you listening to? From: Little Hawk Date: 31 Oct 02 - 10:54 PM Okay, what I hear is a sort of low level humming sound. Every now and then there are some other little sounds, like a tiny machine working. And there are these repeated clicking sounds, after which letters appear as if by magic on the screen in front of me. It just happened again! Wow.... This is just SOOO cool! Neato. If only Winona was here...in her Bram Stoker's Dracula outfit. There it is again! - LH |
