Come-All-Cats,

The next singaround / session at the Bull PH in Barton-le-Clay, Beds. MK45 4LL is on Monday 4th November from 8.30pm.

All acoustic instruments & voices very welcome at this cosy venue and we're always glad to see new faces :-)

It's held fortnightly to run in tandem with the music workshop which is hosted by the University of Luton on alternate Saturday mornings.

Come if you can - if not, the next one's on Monday 18th November - pop it in your diaries! See you then.....

May you always have music

Ian: Ahhh, Yes, how could we forget your Fab session at the Bushel & Strike in Ashwell???? What's the sequence of your session? Hope it goes well, shame about the weather!

Ross: Glad you're back & hope you're well rested & rejuvenated and that we'll see you at the workshop tomorrow? Ashwell's a lovely session & I managed to get there once upon a time (session was held outside as it was a lovely summer's evening), so there's hope for an awayday yet, it all depends upon their sequence. Definitely worth a vist!

Breezy: See you tonight at the Comfort Inn on Holywell Hill in St Albans - Roy Bailey appearing. Almost sold out last time I heard, should be a wonderful evening!

My Guru, prepare for some news about a transmigration of minstrels from our (proper version) of Barton. What are you rules of nudity, woad and furniture smashing again?

I'm afraid I'll have to miss this one My Guru Always...

Hope you have a lovely time

Regarding nudity, on the couple I've times I have been, they haven't needed to enforce it - most people are up for it.

Cheers

Last time I was there, nudity, woad and furniture smashing were compulsory, and Hilary enforced them very strictly!

The best way is to build up a resistance to it -- keep right on to the end of the woad.
I'll get me coat.

Oakley, me dear Trusty Tree: Transmigrations permitting, nudity of any kind will be very Strictly enforced at our Genuine Barton Session this evening! Am considering creation of Health & Safety Risk Assessment of same depending on the instrument.

Piers: Didn't make it from the Pyrotechnics in Carlisle to the NetCafe eh? Ah well, there's always next time! If you return in time to see this & want lift to Blue Anchor, St Albans singaround on Tuesday 5th, let me know by the usual channels.

Ross: Yes, we had a good twang thanks but you're still sorely missed! Hope you've got your holiday snaps ready for tonight *s*. Jess may be popping along tonight for another reccie!

BJ: If you're coming along tonight I'll bring extra furniture for you & I have some very useful ointment that may help!!!! Hope to see you tonight, you may need an umbrella along with that coat.

Any OtherCat coming tonight?

Sorry, Hilary, what with my own session tonight (Fox & Hounds, Stony Stratford), opening for Colvin Quarmby and Vivant tomorrow (Wednesday) at Roots@Zak's in Wolverton, and playing The Eight Belles in Bletchley this Saturday as The Bullfrogs-Lite (duo), yours was just one gig too many! Maybe next time.

Hey BJ: Sounds like you need some R&R, you're getting about a bit aren't you!!! What sequence is the Fox & Hounds, every week? If not I may get along on a No-Barton night. Mind you, I think my next visit just has to be Herga but I'll put Stony at the top for next time *s*.
Good luck at Roots & Bletchley. When you get a chance & feel like relaxing amongst friends come along to the Bull, we'll look forward to seeing you again!

Ross: Yes, 'twas a good cosy night!! Glad to see you back & not too sunburnt. Am looking forward to tonight at the Blue Anchor in St Albans for the monthly singaround with Run of the Mill, good luck with the competition! Maybe Dereck will do his song about burning people at the stake, very inspiring at this time of year :-)

Breezy: Am looking forward to hearing Mike Deavin again, must dust off his old CD & have a listen before Friday. See you tonight I'm sure!!

I feel honour-bound to report that Punch the Horse's associates did not appear at Barton last night although they were eagerly anticipated.

Hey Hil go there to Bull-D-Horse and report back I'll cover r-o-m.
It was a real good night at Herga and Johnny Collins, Tim, George Pap=g and Kitty Vernon were in good voices then Dave Woods appeared and it went up aother gear, what a voice but Christine had emotions flowing with the Band p w Matilda and Harris and the mare, and kitty high-jacked all my songs and the chorus singing was of avery high standard, sorry to have missed Graeme Knights, so yes next monday, Its going to be pretty depresssing with everyone singing songs relevant to the day
You will enjoy Mike Deavin on Friday at the comflirt hotel st Albans, then saturday at the Blue Anchor

Hope you went to Stoney cos you werent at the other, where, 'the ghost' parks her bike outside the window ,immediately behind where a gallant effort is being made by a participant to play a whistle tune   thus distracting all within by the act of disengaging    flourescent yellow bands , the kind that alert motorists of 'cyclist on the road'style
She was early tonight 10.25 p.m.
So after being told I wasnt going to sing, I got chucked out and told I was banned,,,,,again
See you in Stoney next month, I hate ghosts, especially those that play mallodeons -spelling intended- and count two tunes as one, then do a repeat on whistle, while all around wait for the interuption to pass so that they may continue enjoying themselves.
I suppose after Herga it was a bit of a let down, well down right awfull really, only comparing to a singers night at that club Vin mentions.
Barton is streets ahead of them both.
done

Hey Hil

It would be nice to see/hear you at Herga on Monday. Armistice Day songs are not compulsory (though it's possible Graeme Knights might sing 13 Florins on the Bar).

Breezy - when did Ian Woods become Dave?

Breezy: What, banned again????   What are you like? Isn't everyone used to you yet?

Didn't get to Stony, couldn't make up my mind & decided to hibernate instead.... caught in the trap :-(

Kitty: Definitely trying for Herga - am looking forward to hearing those Armistice songs but haven't any to contribute being a mere babe in arms.

Will post fresh Barton thread nearer the time.... May you always have music *G*

Breezy

If you're asking about CDs I've recorded, as opposed to the other ones I own, "Dark the Day" - Mick Pearce and Kitty Vernon - is available on the door at Herga, or from me, or from Dragon Records (probably from the bargain box) or from anyone who stocks the Wildgoose Studio catalogue.

Thank you Treewind for your contribution at St Albans tonight it set up the evening nicely and M'ry's voice and songs were so in keeping with the whole atmosphere, a few people emarked upon leaving that it had been a very high qualty night, we finished at 11.30, Mike Deavin saved his 'Blood on the Sand' as his first encore. tonight he was on form
Guru, your ' After the Goldrush' Duet with Sue F., was delesciously [sp] brilliant. Such a 'right' song to sing at that stagein the evening
Thanks 'Shanty Dave'you got us all singing
Well done , tonight its the Blue Anchor St Albans with Brad Bradstock and Big Sam doing guest spots

Looking forward to Blue Anchor tonight - Piers & Pam will come along too I hope. Hope George PapaG will be there for a spot. Guess he'll be at Herga on Monday if not....

Thanks, yes not quite so far and it feels like home territory with all the folks we know there.

Given that singer/songwriter/guitarist types aren't really my bag, I must say I was quite impressed with Mike: well written songs, a good voice and excellent guitar playing. I hope he wasn't upset by our early departure but you all know we had a fair old way to go.

See you all again sooner or later

Anahata
