The song and tune have been posted at Mudcat - see the link above. I wonder what old Ewan has been up to. This page indicates he's been to Russia lately. He used to have a Web page, but the link to it is dead.
Several of us met Ewan at a Mudcat gathering in New Hampshire a while ago. It was a pleasure.

I once heard Rae Fisher sing this several years ago.

I believe the chorus is something like

Shift and spin, warp and twine
Weaving threads, coarse or fine,
Dreaming of a valentine,
Working in the mill.

Does anyone know who wrote this, where it comes from?
