Subject: Wickerman soundtrack - whaddya think? From: Stu Date: 04 Nov 02 - 12:14 PM I've just listened to the new Wickerman soundtrack that's been released. I reckon it's superb, an interesting mix of folk styles all given the dark treatment of the film. What does everyone else think? |

Subject: RE: Wickerman soundtrack - whaddya think? From: Coyote Breath Date: 04 Nov 02 - 03:46 PM Well I haven't heard the NEW soundtrack. I hope It is better than the original. I used to think that the original soundtrack was the worst soundtrack ever until Deadman (with Johnny Depp, etc.) came out. I don't know who was "playing", someone said it was Neil Young. The "music" consisted of an endless, inappropriate series of electric guitar chords, strummed randomly with liberal use of the lever thingy that make electric guitars sound as though the neck were loose. Just awful. The sound track could have been better than O Brother! had someone with common sense been in charge of the "music". For a film which takes place roughly in the same period, see "The Ballad of Little Jo". The sound track for the film is bang-on with the McGarrigal sisters singing the "title" song. After seeing The Wickerman (and really likeing the STORY) I believed that no one in Britain knew anything about appropriate musical scores for feature films, sort of like the French. I have since changed my mind. How would I be able to see and hear this new Wickerman? How did the soundtrack get changed? Perhaps the process could be applied to Deadman as well. CB |
