a song derived from the cow song ( that i heard at campfire in scout camp) for my kids when we owned goats

guitar GCD

way out on our farm in monroe county (ohio)
people'd come from miles around to see
a milk goat we once had us
her name was gladys
and my how the people used to really stop and stare

she stood ten foot tall and had one purple eyeball
when you milked her she was happy as can be
she had 27 spigots and the people all bought tickets
to see her milked and hear us sing this happy melody

oh, pass the other udder over to my other brother
pass the other udder over this away
pass the other udder over to my other sister (i had daughters)
we really had our hands full
all day long

pa turned her on her back one frosty morning
gladys said, "hey now what's the gag?"
pa said, "gladys don't ya stop 'til the cream comes out on top !"
"in that case," gladys said, "it's in the bag !"

oh, pass the other udder...rest of chorus

Subject: Lyr Add: THE BIGGEST COW (Peter Berryman)
From: raredance
Date: 23 Feb 01 - 11:01 PM

You found the one you were after and that is good. Below is a Wisconsin regional ditty about another large bovine. I believe the actual largest of the cows is the giant Holstein sculpture up on a hill near interstate 94 in western North Dakota.

THE BIGGEST COW
Words by Peter Berryman (1988); tune traditional (Bill Grogan's Goat)

The biggest cow - I ever seen
Was over by - Prairie du Chien.

Go take a peek - But if you do
When she says, "Moo" - You better moo.

That ain't quite right - She don't say moo
Since she's been here - It's something new

Since she been up - Wisconsin way
She don't say Moo - She says Moo Hey

I grabbed her horns - Climbed on her back
And rode her to - Prairie du Sac

Which din't take long - Cause when we's through
She's only took - One step or two.

With her head in - Prairie du Chien
She gives her milk - Down by Racine

So there the farms - Are full of joy
But there is fear - In Illinois

Subject: Lyr Add: PASS THE UDDER UDDER (Stan Freberg)
From: katlaughing
Date: 23 Feb 01 - 10:35 PM

Here ya go, Arnie and Roll&Go...took a little bit of searching, but I found it at a site fro Stan Freberg lyrics http://freberg.8m.com Hmmm, didn't notice that arnie posted this in '98! Oh well, maybe he will come back and find it!

(From the "B" side of "C'est Si Bon". Transcribed by Lee Withers (leewithers@tcfn.org))

PASS THE UDDER UDDER

1. Oh, we grow things mighty big down in Kentucky
But there's nothing in that state that can compare
To a cow that we once had us
And the name of her was Gladys.
Boy, you should have seen the neighbors stop and stare.
She stood 10 feet tall and had one purple eyeball.
It took eight of us to milk her, here is why:
She had 27 spigots
And the tourists all bought tickets
Just to watch us milk and hear us loudly cry-y-y-y...

CHORUS: Oh, pass the udder udder and I'll pass it to my brudder
And I'll pass the udder udder dis-a-way.
So we passed the udder udder and I passed it to my brudder.
Oh, we really had our hands full every day.

2. We created quite a spectacle, I grant you,
But we milked her just as pretty as you please,
And while people said, "How funny,"
We raked in enough durn money
To go out and order ermine BVD's.
Father turned her on her back one Sunday morning.
Gladys said, "I'm upside down; now what's the gag?"
"Well, the reason why," said Pop,
"Is so the cream will be on top."
"Gosh," the cow said, "in that case, it's in the bag!" CHORUS

3. Now our Gladys was a star in cattle circles,
Though she couldn't read or write her name in full.
You would think she'd been to college,
Although she herself acknowledged
That she gained her fame entirely by pull.
Gladys said to us one cold and wintry morning,
She said, "Milking is the thing I dearly loves,
But when I get a cold it lingers
And I can't stand icy fingers,
So go on back in the house and get your gloves!" CHORUS

I'd like to recover this old novelty song from the 1950s as well; the song described a giant cow with 27 spigits and the chorus went:

Pass the other udder over to me other brother,
Pass the other udder over this away,
Pass the other udder over to me other brother,
We certainly have our hands full every day!

Songs like this should not perish from the earth!

I am looking for the words to a song from my childhood about a giant cow. The chorus goes "pass the other udder over to my other brother"
