Forgive a little husbandly pride here. Steer on over toKammen and Swan and have a look at what Pam's up to. The CD will be released next month, and all indications are she's off to a great start.

She's certainly got the looks and talent in this arrangement.

E.S.

Three cheers for a grand adventure -- your pride is well-warranted!

Boy, Peter, I know what you mean....do you think she'll still talk to us?

Cheers

Can't wait to hear this one!! Peej is a superstar as a person, and now she is going to be one as a performer. MaryLou and Ciara are going to be very excited about this. Now is I can just convince her that she needs a cat named Esmerelda as her roadcat..........that is if I can get her to quit pining for Dave.

Very Nice! Couldn't get the music samples to come up, though. Have you tested it in Netscape browser 4.7?

Good job, ladies.

I dunno, Dave -- looks like she's got a swarm of enthralled Mudcat guys who are perking up their ears at the sound of her name! Involuntary reaction, Doctor!   You still got that ole claymore?? LOL!!!

Hey y'all,

Thanks so much for the warm comments. Dave called me to the computer to show me this thread tonight-- I've been away from the Cat for far too long while working on this CD. It's nice to actually sit down and write again instead of just lurking.

Rick, I have to say that I would never have had the nerve to try my hand at something like this if it weren't for the opportunity you gave me to record with you a while back. Working with you (and wonderful Paul Mills) was a tasty experience that made me look forward to recording again.

Since then I've done studio work with a few terrific folks, but this is my first venture into something that will actually have my name on the front cover. Scary!

By the way, if anyone is in the San Francisco bay area and looking to record, please let me recommend Derek Bianchi, owner of MuscleTone studio. He is absolutely wonderful, and maybe the best kept secret in N. California. Nobody wants the word to get out about him because his studio time is always booked and his prices are so reasonable. I just spent 8 months with him, between Wild Wood (my recording with partner Shira Kammen) and two other projects on which I was doing background vocals and percussion. He's gold.

Anyway, we're putting the finishing touches on liner notes and graphics, and it should all come together by the end of the month.

Amos, Peter, Mick... I wish I could see your baby blues in the audience for support at the CD release concert, but I'll have to make do with imagining you there. Mick, I can only hope the finished product is as good as your latest, Over The Waterfall. It's on my CD player right now. Please tell Esmeralda she's got the job, but she'll have to sleep with my goatskin...

Alice, thanks for the heads up about the music samples... truth is I originally posted them as .wav files (I was clearly having a blonde moment) which resulted in downloads the size of a small condominium. My host server had kittens and demanded I remove the files altogether until I converted them to MP3, which I haven't taken the time to do while finishing the album.   More than you wanted to know, huh?

Musicians have to wear so many hats to get an independent CD released and promoted-- in addition to the artist's beret, there's the booking manager fedora, the marketing propeller-beanie for distraction, the bookkeeper's visor (with matching armbands), and of course the Vegas showgirl headdress on stage (with matching...oh nevermind.)

Sometimes my webmaster's Napoleonic tricorn slips down over my ears and I can't see what I'm doing on-line-- I think that's what happened this time. I'll start working on the music links again this weekend, check in soon and there should be some samples there, either of Kammen and Swan or an accidental cross-link to a 1942 recording of an Army personal hygine film. It's too soon to tell.

love you all

p.j.

Geez....What can I say? Well actually, I could say a lot but since most folks feel my postings are just rambling notions from out where the buses don't run, I'll keep it short...............

Hey Dave & PJ, so this is where you've been keeping yourselves. I checked out your schedule, WHAT'S THIS no New England gigs. If you two do get this far east allow me to host. It's great to hear that you'll be airing your stuff. Keep us posted when you become available (I mean your music). Good Luck with it. Barry

Congrats, P.J.! I guess you decided against band names "The Bay Babes" or "Kammen Zie Hier" or "Swan and Kammen: Songs & Jammin'" eh?

Nice site.

I'll probably get shouted down for this, but I'll offer a (hopefully) constructive criticism.

The photo should only be on the index page. It's slightly annoying to click on every link and get the photo that you've just looked at and have to scroll down.

Thanks for the advice, Ed. Originally I tried to post the photo only on the index page, but it showed up on every page. I figured I'd do some research and learn how to override it when I found the time, but meanwhile someone pointed out that my link on some search engines were showing up with pages other than my index coming up first. It gave me an excuse to leave it alone for now, since that may be the only page viewed. Can you tell I'm a novice at web design? I'm grateful for your feedback though, if it's annoying to have the picture pop up on every page, people may just quit looking.

Okay, this weekend it's pictures and MP3 fixes. Anybody think I should make other changes while I'm under the computer with a socket wrench?

xoxo
pj

p.s. Hey Barry, let's talk about a trip to New England...

It appears that the original website for Kammen and Swan is defunct.

The new one is here: http://magnatune.com/artists/kammen_swan
