Subject: BS: Elections are over From: 53 Date: 07 Nov 02 - 09:34 AM I sure am glad that the elections are over and TV will get back to normal. What do you think? |
Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: Troll Date: 07 Nov 02 - 10:02 AM TV? You watch TV? Theatre is life. Film is art. TV is furniture. troll |
Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: irishajo Date: 07 Nov 02 - 11:13 AM I am very glad I won't have to watch those campaign ads anymore. I am experiencing a strong case of anomie as a result. (Well, I suppose I didn't HAVE to watch them in the first place, but I do like to unwind with an episode or two of Seinfeld after work.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: katlaughing Date: 07 Nov 02 - 11:34 AM Yes, Bob, I am glad the ads are gone, too. My Rog's boss isn't happy, though. In a small market like we have here, they were pulling in $30,000 extra per day in tv advertising dollars because of the pols. There is something obscene about the amount spent to buy our votes.:-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: SharonA Date: 07 Nov 02 - 11:42 AM I'm with you, Bob 53. I'm sooooo tired of the current trend of "don't vote for So-and-so, he's wrong for (your state's name here)" commercials where So-and-so's picture appears in grainy black-and-white in the most unflattering pose possible (mouth open, eyes crossed, etc.) while the candidate whose "friends" paid for the advertisement gets a color picture with a beatific smile. Why don't they just put horns on their opponents and halos on themselves and be done with it?! And all those "he voted against this bill" and "she accepted money from that organization" details run together until it's impossible to remember who did what!! So goodbye for another year, negative campaign ads, and good riddance to bad rubbish. Now we can be inundated by the Christmas holiday commercials! |
Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: SharonA Date: 07 Nov 02 - 11:44 AM ...or should that be "inundated with"? |
Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: Mark Clark Date: 07 Nov 02 - 12:04 PM If you live in Iowa or New Hampshire the respite is only a couple of months long. Early next year the 2004 Presidential hopefuls will begin their extended parade through our states. - Mark |
Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: katlaughing Date: 07 Nov 02 - 12:08 PM Maybe we should all put a sign in our cars which uses the universal "NO" symbol with "political ads" in the center. |
Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: Bobert Date: 07 Nov 02 - 12:17 PM Kat: Speaking of elections, money and obscene. I heard this morning on Pacifica radio that 95% of the races accross the country were won by the candidate that...ahhhh....(drumroll)... spent to most money. troll: I'm with you on the idiot box. Bobert |
Subject: RE: BS: Elections are over From: SharonA Date: 07 Nov 02 - 01:44 PM First Old Woman (Graham Chapman) Well, what's on the television then ? Second Old Woman (John Cleese) It looks like a Bobert and a Troll. First Old Woman No, no, no, I didn't mean what was on the television set, I meant what programme? Second Old Woman Oh. Second Old Woman It's funny that Bobert and Troll being there, innit? What're they doing there? First Old Woman Standing. Second Old Woman I can see that! ------------------------------------ revised from the original Monty Python "Penguins" sketch, here: http://www.ironworks.com/comedy/python/penguins.htm |
