There are actually several threads about the song LITTLE DARLING PAL OF MINE, plus a version in the DT. To see them, I suggest you start here and then follow the links at the top of the page to find the others.

But I'm puzzled by this request. LITTLE DARLING PAL OF MINE doesn't even contain the phrase "my little girl." By "Carter and Carter" I assume our guest means Sara & Maybelle Carter. A couple of albums exist of them alone; however, I don't see any title that resembles "my little girl."

There are lots of songs called MY LITTLE GIRL but I'm not finding any that were written or recorded by anyone named Carter.

Hi, Guest. Some people say that 'My little girl' is also "Little Darling Pal of Mine."

If that's it, searcn on google for Little Darling Pal of Mine lyrics. It may be here on the Mudcat. Look for the box in the upper right of this page.

For future reference, it is better to start a new thread for a new song. And please don't use block capital letters. They are hard to read.

Joe, interesting.

It turns out that the song "Am I a Soldier of the Cross" is in several of my songbooks. However, it's a completely different melody from what the Carters do on that album "Gospel Songs by The Carter Family in Texas, Volume 3" and the refrain about "on the sea of Galilee" is completely absent on your song.

Maybe AP used some of the lyrics and made it his own song?

Here's a list of the Carter lyrics I have in my computer. I'm working on transcribing others but there's so little time.

If you're looking for something slightly off the beaten track (and there aren't many), you might try Stern Old Bachelor. Three others I like a lot, just a little different, are Cowboy Jack, Jealous Hearted Me and Sweet Fern.

Thank you for the tip. I have searched this entire database for various Carter Family songs. Many just do not appear. I have learned just about every one on the database. Am looking for the lesser known songs now. They are just as powerful as the more popular ones. Thanks for your help.

Hi, John - did you know about the 18 Carter Family songs we have listed in the database? Just enter [Carter Family} in the search box in the upper-right corner of this page, and they'll appear. Actually, we probably have more, but the 18 are the ones marked as Carter Family songs. I think you might have better luck with other songs if you post the titles of the songs you'd like to find. If anyone has any lyrics to any songs by the Carter Family that are out of the usual popular variety please send them my way. I absolutely olve the Carter Family, and I perform their music on stage. Matter of fact, I pick the guitar in the "Carter Scratch" fashion. Help me keep the music alive in my area. I am the only person that does their music here. Thanks.
