One way to find these faithless damsels is to do a DT or DT/Forum search using "@a infidelity" or some such.
Among others, the DT has:
How could I forget?   The quintessential song of a faithless wife/lover, perhaps --
Blackjack Davey
The Raggle Taggle Gypsies
WHEN CARNAL FIRST CAME TO ARKANSAS
and some versions of The Gypsy Rover or The Whistling Gypsy.

The DT also has:
  Ballad Of The Waterfall
The Week Before Easter
Once I Had A Sweetheart
THE TRAIL TO MEXICO
ZULEIKA
PRETTY NANCY OF YARMOUTH
THE PLAIN GOLDEN BAND
THERE IS A TAVERN IN THE TOWN
SUSANNAH CLARGY
A SONG ON THE NANTUCKET LADIES
St. Louis Woman
New River Train
SALLY WHEATLEY
Once I Knew a Pretty Girl (The Rejected Lover)
PEGGY AND THE SOLDIER
MOUNT AND GO
CUCKOLDS All A-ROW
THE BUNCH OF VIOLETS
BOTTOMLESS WELL   (Shel Silverstein)
THE BROWN AND THE YELLOW ALE
BLACK-EYED MARY
Seven Nights Drunk
THE DOG IN THE CLOSET
THE BARLEY AND THE RYE
CHRISTINE LEROY
CARMEN
AS I WENT OUT FOR A RAMBLE
ANNIE BREEN
THE DOCKYARD GATE
DT search:  @infidelity

Subject: Lyr Add: FOND AFFECTION
From: kendall

My Pretty Quadroon doesn't qualify. She didn't dump the guy, she died.

How about FOND AFFECTION?
   Refrain
The water is wide, I cannot pass over,
The sea so deep I cannot wade,
I'll just go hire me a little boatman,
To row me across the stormy tide.

I'll give you back your ring and letters,
And the picture I loved so well
And henceforth we will meet as strangers
But, I will never say farewell.

repeat refrain

There's only three things that I could wish for,
That is my coffin, shroud and grave,
And when I'm dead, please don't weep o're me
Or kiss the lips you once betrayed.

rep. ref.

this one used to tear me up good! especially the line about meeting as strangers.
Brett, my friend, time really does heal all wounds. If you want details, pm me.

That last verse, Kendall, reminds me of another one:

Little Darlin', Pal Of Mine

CAROLINE - VICTOR 80078-A
Paseo (W.Houdini L. Belasco)
WILMOTH HOUDINI
with Belasco Orchestra
rec.1927

Tell me,where you been last night,
   Caroline?
Mammy,do you think that is right,
   Caroline?
All the neighbours laughing at me,
And they calling me moon sammy,
Tell me, where you been last night,
   Caroline?

A thing, that you shouldn`t do,
   Caroline,
For you know I love you for true,
   Caroline,
You know you are the pride of me heart,
Promised me we would never part,
But tell me, where you sleep last night,
   Caroline?

Caroline, you shouldn`t do me that,
   Caroline,
Give me your word and take it back,
   Caroline,
Yet you spending me money free,
Everybody aroun` can see,
Tell me where you been last night,
   Caroline?

Caroline, I want you no more,
   Caroline,
Take your georgie bundle and go,
   Caroline,
Me an` you could never agree,
Caroline, mammy don`t you see?,
Tell me, where you been last night,
   Caroline?

Caroline, you think I`m a fool,
   Caroline,
You try to use me just like a tool,
   Caroline,
I am working for money hard,
Mamito, and you spend it bad,
Tell me, where you been last night,
   Caroline?

Jock o'Hazeldean
Boots of Spanish Leather (Bob Dylan)
Eternal Circle (Bob Dylan)
The whole "Beggarwench of Hull/ Patrick Street" series

I could list a couple of my own songs here, but, since they're unknown to anyone else or the world at large, I'll spare you all! Perhaps late, when I'm rich and famous!!

@ Megan L:- Whoops! You're right of course. It's just that, for some reason, I had the last two lines of the song spinning around in my head as I posted.

Try this one: Queen Eleanor
