Subject: RE: Music teacher, bet, gets more keyboards! From: bet Date: 15 Nov 02 - 10:13 AM I finally got around to reading kat's message. Thanks kat for all that praise. Fortunetly there are more people in this community and world that support the idea of supporting music for the young and olny a few, like gargolyle, that try to tear things down with their criticism. bet |

Subject: RE: Music teacher, bet, gets more keyboards! From: katlaughing Date: 13 Nov 02 - 12:12 AM Greg, if you take a look at the old threads, you will find we already hashed that particular issue out, plus these 16 new keyboards are NOT coming from Pepsi notes. Do you have anything to say about music, these days? |

Subject: Music teacher, bet, gets more keyboards! From: katlaughing Date: 12 Nov 02 - 10:29 PM I am really proud of my big sister, Mudcatter "bet." She is not only the world's best big sister, but she is one of the best elementary music teachers ever! She sort of retired this year, BUT on a special program where she keeps teaching for another year or two, anyway. Some of you might remember a couple of years ago, she asked us all to save Pepsi notes for her in this thread so that she could get some keyboards for her classroom. You all were just great about it and she managed to score get 4 new keyboards with your help as reported in this thread. PLUS, a Mudcatter and his wife, kindly donated one, too. It's very small, rural school district and every little bit helps. ANYWAY, all this is to lead up to an update. Bet just called me to say she'd been to a parents/teachers' meeting for her school. She had submitted a proposal to them to buy 16 more keyboards. These parents raise the money for funding of such projects. She was completely surprised when they told her tonight that they've approved her proposal including a book and CD set by another teacher which brings Colorado history to life through folksy kind of original music! She's really happy. I think she is very modest and that they did it not only because they care, but also because she has a reputation for loving the kids, loving her job, and always striving to bring them more in new and challenging ways. I told her I thought they should put a plaque above the music room door, "This Music Dept. brought to you by Mrs. (her last name)!" Anyway, you all helped to spark this because she is getting a deal from the original company from which she obtained the earlier keyboards with your Pepsi notes, so thank you all very much! Can you tell I am proud of her?**BG** Way to go, Sis! luvyakat |
