Subject: Lyr Add: CAMPFIRE IN THE DARK From: masato sakurai Date: 22 Nov 02 - 07:04 PM It sure is. Here is "Wind of Change" sound clips. CAMPFIRE IN THE DARK original words by Paddy Houlihan My father rises early and makes a sup of tea He lights the kitchen stove and then he calls me His days are often empty, nothing much to do And so he tells me stories of the travelling life he knew In the evening they would meet in lonely country lanes A field away you'ld hear a collie bark As they passed the time away with talks about the day Standing 'round the campfire in the dark Standing 'round the campfire in the dark My mother likes the house, the hot water and the rooms It's warm in the winter and she's handy with the broom Sometimes she makes Colcannon, more often Griddle Bread For there's a hunger deep inside her for a life that's nearly dead. In the evening she would lift the black pots from the coals A bit to eat she always would remark There'd be vessels left to clean while children could be seen Playing 'round the campfire in the dark Playing 'round the campfire in the dark I think about my own life and the way that it will be An Escort van, a bit of dealing, a wife and family Thursday I collect the Dole, maybe pitch and toss And on the site I think about the travellers' ways we've lost ~Masato |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Campfire in the Dark & Oro Oro From: GUEST,Mark Date: 30 Aug 10 - 11:11 AM Hiya, The chords are: Verse- D G A G D D G A G D Chorus-Bm D G Bm D G Bm D G A G Bm You need to listen to the lyric carefully as there are a lot of errors about. Masato has a pretty solid version, but it's 'brittle bread' not griddle, and part of the last (longer) verse is absent. 'We'd go down to the pool hall To chat up the town whores Sometimes at their discos We can't get past the doors We're still tinkers to them And it's thrown at our ears We're still the awful strangers After all these years Then straight into And I think about my own life etc. Oro is just D and Dm |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Campfire in the Dark & Oro Oro From: GUEST,Lavengro Date: 01 Mar 13 - 08:07 AM The version I know of Oro Oro is Em D all the way through. Straightforward but a great song played on mandolin and guitar. The Fureys version of Campfire in the Dark ends with But on the site I think about the Travellers' ways we've lost And I wish that I could rise, wash the sleep out of these eyes And listen to the sweet song of the lark And I wish that I could be in campfire company With the sound of horses moving in the dark With the sound of horses moving, in the dark |
