OK then, Mr.Happy, to get slightly more erudite and learned about this: the second half of the melody for each verse on the Kididdles version that I posted above seems to use a tune similar to "The Farmer's In His Den", which is not usual in Great Britain. The version of the song as sung and danced by Looby Loo on "Andy Pandy" simply repeats the first half of the Kididdles melody over again, where Looby Loo sings:

You put your *right arm* in,
Put your right arm out,
Shake it a little, a little
And turn yourself about.

(*etc. with various body parts of your choice)

Andy Pandy can do it quite well, but Teddy always gets into a terrible muddle and is told off by the disembodied lady announcer from Surrey with the frightfully nice speaking voice.

Other Andy Pandy songs worth researching are:

Andy goes riding, carefully, carefully,
Ting-a-ling ting-a-ling ting-a-ling ting. (x2)

Also:
"What's in the box ? What's in the box ?
Andy is trying to undo the locks" (the Escapology episode).

Don't remember the name of the show but there was a ridiculous woman named Miss Nancy with an equally ridiculous magic mirror. The mirror had no glass and she would look through the hole at the camera and wish happy birthday "to David and Mary and oh I see Sarah too!" She also skipped around singing "Here we go loop de loo" leaving some of us wondering just how looped she really was. I was a cynical child.

No, Amy. Wrong on both counts. I am old enough and Miss Francis was the saint who ran Ding Dong School. She died just last year and I shed a tear. She taught me how to be unafraid of scissors, glue, glitter and the ensuing messes I created.

Miss Nancy was just an idiot. Although I am sure there are children who fondly remember Romper Room - it came to me in the middle of the night.

Romper Room was made and broadcast locally, when it was on the air--so it was "Miss _______," depending on where you lived. (And you don't have to be so all-fired old to remember it, either--I was born in '61...)

In the Detroit area, it was Miss Sally, and I was always SO disgusted that she could never see ME in her "magic mirror!" I always sang along on the "Do-Bee" song, and figured she owed me...

BTW, listening to the midi at the kididdles site just brought to my attention that "Looby Loo" is the same melody, basically, as "The Farmer in the Dell." Strange I never noticed before...I've known both songs since I was a preschooler.

Hokey Koky had a different tune from Looby loo. We sang them both and to us they were different songs.
Looby loo had the same tune (and after v1 the same words) as

This might be an acceptable place to publish a little bit of introspection, a piece of writing I did in trying to make sense of the strange twists and turns my life has taken:

You may remember Romper Room, hosted by that hostess par excellence, Miss Flora: my first love. At some spot in every show, Miss Flora would talk about two little bees, Do-bee and Don't-Bee. She had pictures of them both, which she kindly shared with us. Do-Bee had good manners and put his toys away and didn't play in traffic and was generally a royal pain in the ass. Don't-Bee had a bad attitude and a cool way of talking (you could tell) and made the traffic stop for him. He was my kind of bee. But Miss Flora wanted me to emulate Do-Bee, and I was infatuated with her - she was in fact my first love - and so I tried my best to be a smarty-pants just like Do-bee, of whom she spoke so approvingly.
    Well, the years went by, and, though neither of us could put our finger on just what it was, something seemed to come between Miss Flora and me. It's not that those magic words, "Romper, Bomper, Stomper, Boo!", didn't still bring me running to the tv set - they did - but little things would sometimes inexplicably get on my nerves: "Why milk and cookies?" I cried out one day in exasperation. "Always milk and cookies! Why not lemonade and little cut-up sandwiches? Why not birthday-cake and juice?" Nobody understood what was wrong, not even me. Miss Flora said nothing, but just turned away, I suppose to hide the pain that must have been in her face.
    And then, one morning she was gone. Well, I had always known that she wasn't going to be there forever, and I told myself I didn't care. But the truth is, it was then I finally turned my back altogether on Do-Bee, rejecting him too forcefully for it to be just a matter of moving on. And I embraced my inner Don't-Bee with the passion of a returned lover. It soon seemed that Don't-Bee and I were one. I used bad manners, I didn't put my toys away, I even stuck my finger in an electric outlet.
    Occasionally, as I wandered back and forth across the street, and as far as the end of the block, I would think I saw Miss Flora, or imagine I heard her voice, and for a moment I would find myself trying to be just like Do-bee again. Then the illusion would pass, and I would be staring at a tipped-over tricycle, or an abandoned teddy-bear, and I would tell myself that it was Don't-bee that had been right all along ...

Just looked at this thread for the first time. Several things come to mind:

The Do-Bee song I remember from Romper Room (Miss Connie, as I recall) started "Start buzz-buzzing, here's your chance. Everybody's doing, the Do-Bee dance. ..." It is probably available somewhere on the web.

The first time I ever heard "here we go loopy loo" was on what at the time was called "Top 40 radio", back in the sixties. It sounded to my ears like "Here we go loop-de-loop". I didn't find out until later that it was a children's song.

Being from the USA side of the pond, I never encountered Andy Pandy. But I seem to remember Andy Panda, who I believe was a cartoon character produced by the same folks who made Woody Woodpecker (Walter Lantz?)

I believe Johnny Thunder had a hit with the record some time in the 60's- He pronounced it Loopty Lou. I saw him perform it once at the long defunct Champagne towers in Lodi NJ. I parked cars there and got in free. Glad I didn't have to pay.

I thought it was a Miss Adrienne (at present I can't rememer her surname, but have a vague mental picture of a youngish woman with dark, possibly curly, hair, but not too long - like a schoolteacher) did the Northern Ireland version of "Romper Room", but may be wrong. I think the introduction went:

Romper, Bomper, Stomper, Boo
Tell Me, Tell Me, Tell Me, Do
Magic Mirror, tell me today
Did my friends have fun at play?

After this she would say something like "I can see Johnny, and I can see Mary, and I can see Tommy, and I can see Betty..." (these names are hypothetical but in those pre-hippy days nobody named their kids Moonchild or Starburst, let alone Kylie, Jason, etc).

Isn't it annoying how one can remember trivia from over 50 years ago, but can't remember important things like where I left my car keys a few minutes ago!

The tune, in 9/8, is very similar to 'Shooting' on the Morris On album. This tune itself is very reminiscent of 'The Beaux of London City', which I have in Mike Raven's book, English Country Dance Tunes (1984).
