Jerry and Wilco have asked me to post these lyrics ... so here you are folks

Rock me like a baby in your arms

When the storm clouds gather overhead
And darkness fills the sky
Rock me like a baby in your arms
Hold me closely and protect me
'Till the tempest passes by
Just rock me like a baby in your arms

Chorus
Rock me like a baby in your arms
Save me from all danger and alarms
Through the night and through the day
Sooth my care and fears away
Just rock me like a baby in your arms

When the road on which I travel
Is beset with trap and snare
Rock me like a baby in your arms
Be the light that guides me onward
Spreading brightness everywhere
Just rock me like a baby in your arms

Chorus

When a world of doubt surrounds me
And I feel I've lost control
Rock me like a baby in your arms
Be the rock that I can cling to
Help me keep my spirit whole
And rock me like a baby in your arms

chorus

Darned if this didn't slip right by me, Hazel... And what a loss that would have been. Maybe You Should Have Titled it as a BS thread, "What Has A Baby Done For Me Recently."

One of the things that I feel strongly about in gospel music is to bring the message into our daily lives in a way that we can all relate to. Steve Earle did that with Nothing But A Child, and you've done it beautifully in your song... I can just about sing it, as I read it. That's another sign of a good song... the words should give the rhtyhm, rather than being pasted on to it. I sing in a black male chorus, and the director has us speak the words of a new song before we sing it (and we don't sing from sheet music.) He wants us to hear the message without concentrating on the melody or our harmonies. In reading the words of a good song, you naturally slide into the rhythm.

I can hear this done with a strong rhythm... or slow, too. Looks like I'll have to hear how you do it...

Great song!

Jerry
