Subject: RE: Help required - australian night From: Bob Bolton Date: 24 Nov 02 - 10:34 PM G'day Pete, Kathryn raised a thread after jokes for her "Aussie" gig a while back. Here is the Blicky: Aussie Jokes Enjoy (just keep in mind that the really bad jokes quoted are actually about New Zealanders ... but the rest of the world can't tell the difference!) Regard(les)s, Bob Bolton |

Subject: RE: Help required - australian night From: Mr Red Date: 25 Nov 02 - 06:54 AM Bob Bolton 'sfunny thing but the really bad jokes in GodZone are all about the "West Islanders" - but, true, they are told by Kiwi's. FWIW a Kiwi is an animal that "Eats, Roots and Leaves". |

Subject: RE: Help required - australian night From: Bob Bolton Date: 25 Nov 02 - 08:23 AM G'day again Peter, I just got around to providing a tune for the poem/song Spider from the Gwydir at: Spider from the Gwydir so that might be helpful - either as a song or as a recitation (my current preference.). Regards, Bob Bolton |

Subject: RE: Help required - australian night From: Dave Bryant Date: 28 Nov 02 - 06:23 AM Lot's of Fosters, a "Barbie" (not a doll) and plenty of prawns, some attractive and compliant sheep, and a "Dunnie" big enough to handle badly aimed "Technicolour Yawns". You shouldn't need any "Sheilas" or anything at all accademically challenging. Costume: Cut-offs and hats with corks suspended from the brims. Any accidents - radio the Flying Doctor. Cultural Stereotyping - What me ? |

Subject: RE: Help required - australian night From: Dave Bryant Date: 28 Nov 02 - 07:55 AM There was a whole Australian album that "Hedgehog Pie" made in the past - it was abit tonge-in-the-cheek, but had a great number called "Christmas in Australia" which would be suitable for this time of year. All I can remember is the chorus: Christmas in Australia is Christmas in paradise, Christmas in Australia is (boom, boom) bloody nice. Bruce is cuddling Sheila and Sheila's cuddling Bruce, And if you haven't got a Christmas suntan, You're a pom and no bloody use ! Vectis has already mentioned Martin's songs and two of my favourites from his repertoire are GENTLE ANNIE and SAILOR HOME FROM THE SEA (lyrics by the late Dorothy Hewett). Barry Humphries (Dame Edna), under his Barry McKenzie guise, wrote some wonderful "Ocker" ozzie songs such as "Chunder in the old Pacific Sea" and one about an ozzie who's feeling pissed off in London, with the wonderful words: So I told him straight - I'm Ozzie mate, And I'm bent on getting plastered. Coz the beer's all crook, and the girls all look, Like you, you pommie bastard. |

Subject: RE: Help required - australian night From: Hrothgar Date: 29 Nov 02 - 03:01 AM There I strode down Earl's Court Road When into a pub I was lured. "Where ya from?" said a nosey Pom As I sipped the amber fluid. So I told him straight ... |

Subject: RE: Help required - australian night From: Hrothgar Date: 30 Nov 02 - 04:44 AM Oh, I forgot - the line "like you, you pommie Bastard" should be followe by Rule, Britannia! Marmalde and jam! Five Chinese crackers up your arsehole, Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! |
