Subject: Chord Req: In the Mood From: GUEST,fred miller Date: 26 Nov 02 - 09:35 AM Anybody know this, well enough to suggest chords to work under a harmonica playing the lines? I'm just doing the three maj chords in C but something sounds missing, and I can't find it. I know it isn't written for the way I'm trying to do it, but I've had luck adapting things like the "peanuts" dance, this way. Thought I could fudge it--but I'm not getting that hot swing sound out of it. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: In the Mood From: GUEST,MCP Date: 26 Nov 02 - 11:53 AM You could look at the version on The Guitar Guy's site: The Guitar Guy - In The Mood. I haven't looked at this in particular, and I don't always agree with his chords for some songs that I have looked at, but it might be a start. Mick |

Subject: ADD: In the Mood From: Joe Offer Date: 27 Nov 02 - 03:43 AM I found two sets of lyrics here (click), both attributed to the same songwriters. This tune is a favorite of mine, but I can't say I like either set of lyrics. I had to sing the first one in a revue once. There's a pretty good MIDI here (click) Anybody know why there are two sets of lyrics? In the Mood Artists: The Andrews Sisters Words by Andy Razaf and Music by Joe Garland (1939) Charted by Glenn Miller at #1 in 1941 and again at #20 in 1943 Also charted at # 16 by Johnny Maddox in 1953 Who's the lovin' daddy with the beautiful eyes What a pair o' lips, I'd like to try 'em for size I'll just tell him, "Baby, won't you swing it with me" Hope he tells me maybe, what a wing it will be So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude" He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood" First I held him lightly and we started to dance Then I held him tightly what a dreamy romance And I said "Hey, baby, it's a quarter to three There's a mess of moonlight, won't-cha share it with me" "Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood" In the mood, that's what he told me In the mood, and when he told me In the mood, my heart was skippin' It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now" In the mood for all his kissin' In the mood his crazy lovin' In the mood what I was missin' It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now" So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude" He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood" "Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood" Who's the lovin' daddy with the beautiful eyes What a pair o' lips, I'd like to try 'em for size I'll just tell him, "Baby, won't you swing it with me" Hope he tells me maybe, what a wing it will be So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude" He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood" First I held him lightly and we started to dance Then I held him tightly what a dreamy romance And I said "Hey, baby, it's a quarter to three It's a mess of moonlight, won't-cha share it with me" "Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood" source: Ronald E. Hontz ----- G. Miller's "In the Mood" There are a number of versions - this is the Andrews Sisters [which is similar to the Bette Midler version] In the Mood [A Razaf, J Garland] Mister Whatcha Call-'um, whatcha doin' tonight? Hope you're in the mood because I'm feeling just right How's about a corner with a table for two Where the music's mellow with some gay rendevous There's a chance romancin' with a blue attitude You've got to do some dancin' to get in the mood Sister Watcha Call-'um, that's a timely idea Something swingadillo would be good to my ear Everybody must agree that dancin' has charms When you have that certain one you love in your arms Steppin' out with you will be a sweet interlude Oh, build 'er up cos that will put me in the mood. In the mood - that's it, I got it In the mood - your ear will spot it In the mood - oh, what a hot hit To be alive and get the jive You've got to learn how Hep, hep, hep, hep like a hepper Pep, pep, pep, hot as a pepper Step step step, step like a stepper We're muggin' and huggin' - we're in the mood now Mister Whatcha Call-'um, all you needed was fun You can see the wonders that this evening has done Your feet were so heavy till they hardly could move Now they're light as feathers and you're right in the groove You were only hungry for some musical food You're postively, absolutely in the mood Sister Whatcha Call-'um, I'm indebited to you It all goes to show what good and true ones can do Never felt so happy and so fully alive Since that jam and jumpin' is a powerful jive Swingaroo had given me a new attitude My heart is full of rythmn and I'm in the mood. In the mood - that's it, cos I got it, and I'm In the mood - your ear will spot it, when you're In the mood To be alive and get the jive You've got to learn how Hep, hep, hep, hep like a hepper Pep, pep, pep, hot as a pepper Step step step, step like a stepper We're muggin' and huggin' - cos we're in the mood source: alt.music.lyrics |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: In the Mood From: GUEST,Fred Miller Date: 27 Nov 02 - 09:30 AM Thanks y'all. Joe, I think Brian Setzer may have done a different lyric also. I picked it out from memory and will find out if I'm doing something wrong. But it may be partly it's hard to do the dynamics, hard to get much quieter on the harmonica. |
