pulled out my 'Faces of Folk Music' book by Gahr & Shelton from 1968, and was struck by what a truly wonderful time it was to have been alive.
Great to see photos of many Mudcatters, Happy and Artie Traum, Sandy and Caroline Paton, Jean Ritchie, etc., as well as Irwin and Mark Silber et alia. And all the old timers, Margaret Barry from Ireland, Sara and Maybelle Carter, among others, and the newbies, Dylan in a bathing suit!

The essay is interesting for it's time, as a plea for understanding and tolerance within the folk community! Plus sa change...!
Any body else with a copy? Anybody know does the ReSource Center of Singout! have one?

Happy & safe Holidays to everyone

folk music is the voice of the people, and we will be heard

Jeez, is that the one with the glamourous and commercially sophisticated "Helen Sawyer"?

I thought...."I know that face"......it was Helen Shneyer!

Cheers

Rick

Yes, I have a copy in mint condition with the dust jacket still looking good. It is indeed fun to flip through it every once in awhile... just came across it yesterday. Those were the days... a "Coffee Table" book on folk music...
