There's a lot about him at this website: clickety. If you do a search using his name on google, there's actually quite a bit that comes up.

Thanks, Peter, I'll have to watch for this one. (By the title of the thread, I though maybe we had a new story thread going.:-)

Claude aMcKay was a minor figure in the Harlem Rennaissance (sp?) movement of the 1920s. I believe he was also a poet. There are lots of sources about the Harlem Ren., and any of them will probably lead you to information about McKay. I remember reading that book 25 to 30 years ago. Is it still in print or did you find it used?

I found some info at this address: http://www.si.umich.edu/CHICO/Harlem/text/mckay.html

"Other books by Claude McKay include Banjo, Harlem: Negro Metropolis, and his autobiography, A Long Way From Home. Home to Harlem, published in the spring of 1928, became the first novel by a Harlem writer to reach the bestseller list. "

Just discovered this novel from the 1920's on a remainder table. By Charles McKay, fascinating about Marseilles, black culture in France, and a real Henry Miiler kind of style. Anyone know anything about the writer, the novel, etc? (The main character plays, and is named after, a banjo). yours, Peter T.
