Subject: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Amos Date: 29 Nov 02 - 01:45 PM Guys, I don't know or much care what the politically correct term for the forthcoming holiday is, but I do know one thing -- we owe Max more than lip-service for keeping this forum together in spite of hard times and a lot of flak from the ungenerous among us. Let me propose that everyone turn out this Xmas season and provide a small amount of support and exchange by getting yourselves and your friends Mudcat CDs from CAMSCO. The bulk of that money goes striaght to Mudcat support. Those of us who pushed the project through -- Dick Greenahus, myself, MichaelR, Homeless, Sorcha and others -- did it on a volunteer basis for this reason only -- to give th3e Mudcat a better shot at long term survival. What you get is a wonderful collection of music! Five CDs stuffed with Mudcat singing and playing from all over the world. Songs from the ancient centuries right up to this decade. An amzing spectrum of folkie talent deployed at your command! What we get collectively is the excitement of swamping Max with a surge of support greater than he's ever seen before!! Ya think that would make his holiday, maybe? Sure it would!!! Get behind this wave, order your CDs from Dick Greenhaus right away!! Get a whole set!! You save money!! And Max has a GREAT Xmas. And so do I!! And so does our cyberhome!!! What d'ye say??? Orders in??? Go, go, go!! A |

Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: open mike Date: 29 Nov 02 - 06:18 PM i called in my order--3 pm pacific time--guess CAMSCO is on atlantic time>? thanks for all those who donated tunes to this effort!!Laurel |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: GUEST Date: 29 Nov 02 - 06:20 PM Amos, With due respect, and I know that you've worked incredibly hard on this, I need to speak to Dick What the hell does a "lifetime warranty" actually mean? |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Amos Date: 29 Nov 02 - 06:53 PM Well then call him up and stop peeing in the soup, mate. He made it pretty clear -- if the CD is defective or fails he will replace it. Jesus, you're talking about CDs, not Boeing 707s!! A |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Sorcha Date: 29 Nov 02 - 07:19 PM I did try to tell what Dick said, post was chopped If the CD ever, ever, ever fails let him know and it will be replaced ASAP. Lifetime means liftime........... |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Lonesome EJ Date: 29 Nov 02 - 07:22 PM Order in! Can't wait to hear the stuff! |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: GUEST,Different guest Date: 29 Nov 02 - 07:39 PM Just a question on Sorcha's instructions. Don't you accept plastic from UK? I send credit card numbers to UK bookstores and music shops all the time; can't UK customers order from camsco with their card numbers? |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: dick greenhaus Date: 29 Nov 02 - 07:50 PM Different Guest- CAMSCO accepts plastic from anywhere. The business about ordering from Bill Sables is a convenience to those overseas Mudcatters who don't use credit cards. Lifetime warranty means that if your CD ever goes bad, send it to me and it'll be replaced. The lifetime referred to is Mudcat's (which is apt to be longer than mine, I hope) or CAMSCO's, whichever holds out the longest. |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Uncle Jaque Date: 29 Nov 02 - 08:21 PM References to the individual CDs do not seem to be "linked", so in a nutshell... Are these albums arranged in any particular grouping - ergo; "Traditional" on one, "celtic" on another, etc., or are they all randomly assorted? I would be interested in particular genre's, such as "Gospel" or "Early American", for example, while not so enthusiastic about "contemporary" or "Protest" themes, per se.. I assume that it would be easy to arrange a gift CD sent to another address in Europe as well as here in the US - does CAMSCO handle the currency exchange, for instance? I'd want to listen to the albums before sending them as gifts, but if what I was hearing back on the old "Paltalk" cyber-song-circles (those were kind of fun, weren't they?) is any indication, I have little doubt that it is top-drawer music. And it surely is for a splendid cause! |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: katlaughing Date: 29 Nov 02 - 08:54 PM They are that and then some, Uncle Jaque, hands-down. And, yes, those were wonderful times! |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Amos Date: 29 Nov 02 - 09:28 PM Jacques: The playlists are on the threads mentioned -- excuse me for not linking them but if you just put Mudcat CD into the filter and set it for 30 days you will have them at your fingertips. They are not organized by themes, simply by aestetic intuiition as to what would make pleasant groups of songs and also include all those who sent in material for inclusion at least once. A |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: dick greenhaus Date: 29 Nov 02 - 09:56 PM All the major credit cards handle currency exchange. Cheques in, say, shekels or deutschmarks could be a problem, though. |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Amos Date: 30 Nov 02 - 10:46 AM OK, gang, order 'em now!! Shipping satarts MONDAY. This is a historic Mudcat event. That's historic with an "i", not a "y", for the wise guys out there!! Seriously -- think of this -- a voluntary collaboration and compilation of private citizens singing from all over the world, representing the whole spectrum of Mudcatlandia ! Planet-wide folksing!! I don't think its ever been done before!! And you can get that first release!! Wow. It's amazing!! Flood Dickl! A |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: treewind Date: 30 Nov 02 - 11:18 AM I'm in the UK... I PM'd Dick with my CC number, then realised I should have sent to Bill Sables as a UK buyer so I sent my CC details to him too. What will happen now? Will my order get processed somehow? Will I get charged twice and get two copies? (as if I cared really, I'll find a home for them...) Anahata |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: treewind Date: 30 Nov 02 - 11:23 AM Cancel that - I've just had a PM from Bill S. For the avoidance of doubt : Bill Sables cannot accept CC payments so UK 'catters have to PM Bill and he'll give you the address to send a cheque to... which I'm now about to do. Anahata |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Tweed Date: 30 Nov 02 - 11:37 AM How 'bout some pics of the set Amos? Anybody gonna put that up in a semi-permanent advert on this site so the folks can see what they're gonna get? Might put the pore GUEST'S fears to rest as he seems to be certain he'll get him/herself screwed one way or the other. HEY MAX!! Need some marketing ovah here Sir! Dig out that scanner and whup us something up. Surely there must be some bearded ex-Madison Avenue types runnin' around loose in here;~) |
Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! Subject: RE: Max's Christmas: ALL HANDS!!! From: Amos Date: 04 Dec 02 - 04:47 PM Way to go, Genie!!! As I understand it, we met all the upfront costs in the first 22 sets ordered so it's all Mudcat support funds henceforth, but I do not know how that prorates out on a disk by disk basis. A |
