This song always inspires me to paint or draw....or stained glass work....I look at trees and birds and want to get the feeling expressed into glass...sometimes even when I have a plan,I change directions and surprise myself

The song is Dream #2 by Ken Tobias from New Brunswick, Canada. Great singer Songwriter. This is from 1972.

I know. I did Google searchs with all combinations of the lyrics I knew from the song and... nothing. That's why the help req here. Thanks for the confirmation though. I guess it's not just a vast search engine plot against me after all. ;)

It's a song I hear every once in a while on some retro station or other where they never tell you the title or artist. And it might be a bit of a cheesy folk-pop number but I've always liked it. The lyrics of the first verse, as near as I can remember since I haven't heard it in a while, are:

"I drew a picture of a pair of wings... because I want to fly
My mother asked me to explain... I said that I would try"

plus other lines:

"I had a dream the other night about flying
And the man who was teaching me was crying
He said that fewer people were trying
And the art of truly flying was dying"

It's kind of embarrassing because it seems that I should know who recorded this and when and even what the title of it is. But I don't. And searches on the Internet only turn up stories and pictures of airy-fairy cutesy fluffy stuffed animals with wings.

So any help out there?
