To the best of my knowledge, the words were sung in only one of the hundred or so episodes; a feature-length version made in ?? 1989 ?? without a laughter track from a studio audience. (The plot involved many bungled attempts to smuggle a corpse between houses to conceal that a married man had died at the house of his mistress. The title track was sung as a hymn at the graveside).

Bill's 'Last of the summer wine' lyrics

Due to the many letters we have recieved here are the lyrics written by the late Bill Owen for Ronnie Hazelhurst's theme tune.

The song was used as a fitting tribute in the funeral episode of Last of the Summer Wine.

Ronnie Hazlehurst (1928-2007) - an English composer and conductor who, having joined the BBC in 1961, became its Light Entertainment Musical Director.

Somewhere on Youtube there's a chorus singing those words.
It's possible to watch most, if not all, the episodes on YT.

A search will get the list of episodes by series #.

They ran the entire 290+ here on NPR 4-5 times as part of their afternoon Britcom routine, with various other series less often.

Incidentally, the writer was Ronnie Hazlehurst, note spelling.
