I'm listening to 'Rose' right now- (Great covers btw) on #6 with Sandy Paton. 'When You and I Were Young'- wonderful. My brother was only 61 when he died but 'Maggie' was just about his favorite song. Thanks, Sandy. I'll be ordering another set, so hold on... Now: McGrath! What fun. I'm going to be able to hear all the voices that belong to the Mudcat! I'm just so thrilled. |

Some promoter should get a hold of the idea of a great concert - the real folk scene, not the comercial this is folk hype. How about a documentery film... this is the real stuff gang... great great collection. It is going to take a week before I can go into detail, songs still bouncing about my head as I listen to the next CD... brilliant stuff, anyone who is a mudcatter who does not get this set misses out on what it is really about. These are the most honest performances I've heard since I last listened to my old Library Of Congress Archive Of American Folksong LP albums--the ones in those gray and red cardboard jackets. It's great to hear Kendall's rich voice again - haven't heard or seen him in awhile. There's lots of good music and great singers on these cds. Have to say that so far two jumped out as songs that Frank and I might like to try ourselves: Cool Cup of Water by khandu and Deep Shady Grove by Kytrad. So who is Whitfield, the songwriter of Cool Cup of Water? Is that you, khandu? This is fun! Puts a dent in the Christmas budget, but made a great gift to myself. |
