Subject: BS: auction: Yule/Xmas book by CapriUni From: CapriUni Date: 04 Dec 02 - 09:28 PM I don't play an instrument, and I don't sing much outloud. But I do write. And I have been trying to think of something I could contribute to the Auction, to help Max (and all us 'Catters) out. And so, Little Drummer Boy-like, I humbly offer what I do best: tell a story. I first wrote and illustrated Mother Goose and the Lost Magic of Christmas: An Adventure for Yule as a Christmas present for my neighbors in 2000. Two years have passed, and I don't have the urge to rewrite it -- and I am my own harshest critic. That must be a good sign! So: Go! Check it out! Start a bidding war! (I ask not for myself, but for all of us) |

Subject: RE: BS: auction: Yule/Xmas story by CapriUn From: CapriUni Date: 05 Dec 02 - 11:29 PM I asked in the aution itself - is this available outside of the auction? Contact information? While I am bidding - I have more then ONE child I would like to give this as a present. I answered you in PM, but I suppose I'll answer it here, too: While I can order extra copies, I'm not prepared to do dozens at a time (it's pricey, and they do not give volume discounts). As for giving the book for a present, I realized this morning that I set the auction period for too long. It doesn't end until Epiphany, which may be good for getting a lot of bids, but a bit late for putting under the tree. ...Sorry about that, but maybe I could do a sales pitch that this book can be a cure for the after-Christmas letdown blues ... ??? |

Subject: RE: BS: auction: Yule/Xmas story by CapriUn From: CapriUni Date: 09 Dec 02 - 06:07 PM Thanks Helen! And Don't forget to bid! It's often surprising how fast the "Days left" dwindle down to nothing... |

Subject: RE: BS: auction: Yule/Xmas story by CapriUn From: Helen Date: 09 Dec 02 - 06:15 PM I am planning to bid, but I've got a case of the guilts because I tried sending my payment for the last auction I won by Credit Card and Max had decided to stop using cc payments and use PayPal instead. I'm still trying to get over my fear of using a new form of payment - for security reasons. I'll be making a donation to Mudcat as well, but I'm building up my strength for the big leap of faith. (grin) I just checked out (a bit slow, I know) your thread with the Winter Solstice carol. It's beautiful. Also, I found out that you like drawing with watercolour pencils too. They are one of my favourite art media and pastels are the other. And making Mother Goose costumes. For famous authors ;-) who need them for their author tours and tv promos. ;-> Helen |

Subject: RE: BS: auction: Yule/Xmas story by CapriUn From: CapriUni Date: 09 Dec 02 - 07:16 PM I don't like paying by paypal either... I don't like the 39 pages of extra fine print, which included, if I remember correctly, giving whoever is behind the thing the right to invest your money in other places... I suppose a bank does that, too, but with a bank, I get the sense that there is more accountability. When I won my auction bid, I sent Max a paper check, just as I do when I pay other bills (I don't send Max all my bills... but... you know). I was also able to write "Thanks!" on the memo line... :-) Oh, but you're out of this country, aren't you? hmmmm... How about a money order? |

Subject: RE: BS: auction: Yule/Xmas story by CapriUn From: CapriUni Date: 29 Dec 02 - 10:02 AM Refresh. The auction ends at midnight on the night of Epiphany -- only 8 days to go. Go! Look! Bid!! This is for Max, remember! The winning bid is currently $25... |

Subject: RE: BS: auction: Yule/Xmas story by CapriUn From: CapriUni Date: 06 Jan 03 - 01:39 PM Just a reminder: This item closes at midnight tonight, when Christmas itself "closes" until next year. It's also the only currently active item in the auction. Surely, some other 'Catter out there has something to put up on the auction block -- an mystery story they've enjoyed but don't read anymore because they know whodunnit, or maybe a picture they've drawn, or a collection of family recipes (you could xerox a favorite one, and laminate it)... all sorts of possibilities. After all, if John from Hull can get bids for a signed beermat... Let's not let the Auction remain empty for long! |
