Well, I woke up this mornin', ice hangin' from the trees
Yeak, I woke up this mornin', Ice hangin' from the trees
OPh Lord, them iced-in blues got a hold of me

Can't find no dry wood an' the ol' Ford won't crank a lick
No, can't find no dry wood and the Ford won't crank a lick
Man, its so cold ya know the clock won't even tick

Oh, my woman's down in the city an' I'z froze up in these hills
Yeah, woman's down in the city an' I'z froze up in these hills
With my head justa poundin' from these cold, cold wintery chills

Yeah, this ol' cabin is a creakin' from the ice and the cold
Well, this ol' cabin is a creakin' from the ice and the cold
Lord, I'm here to tell ya these icedin blues is gettin' old

Gotta see me woman if I gotta crawl ten miles to town
Yeah, gotta see my baby if I gotta crawl ten miles to town
"Cause if I saty in this ol' cabin, Lord knows I'm goin' down

Take my baby's picture and my Bible in this ol' flour sack
Yeah, take P-Vine's picture and my Bible in this ol' flour sack
Tie the bed sheets 'round by boots, wrap the balnket 'round my back

Repeat 1st verse.....

Bobert 12/11/02

Hope everyone is warm and dry. It's bad here and I reckon the power will go out any mintue now 'cause lots of trees coming down under the weight of the ice. I'm ready....

Bobert

Do you have a generator, or just lots of firewood and oil lamps? It the temp here has been 33¡ for most of the day--warm enough to keep it from icing over, but cold enough to keep it slippery--the trees are beautiful as they hang menacingly over the house--

Take the battery out of the Ford, and keep it indoors - warm battery works, cold one doesn't. before taking the battery indoors, connect 12V of dry cells across the battery terminals - won't start it, but you won't have to recode the radio!

Well, Khan, just got back from visiting the neighbors and got "glogg'ed" which is some kind of Norwegian thing that has way too much alcohol in it fir this ol' boy. Yeah, it was fun. Took my geetar in my gig bag and a flashlight and me and the P-Vine made our way thru the woods and the snow and ice up there and had a great time. I played a few blues ongs, including my new one "Iced-in Blues" and they loved it and well, Iz back and the electricity still ain't gone... Thank you, Lord... and all is well.

Hped ya liked "Iced-in Blues". It's sounds real good though I've only done it three times. Doing it in G tuning with a little shuffle and no slide, Emmmmmm, good!

I wish I had it on the Mudcat CD 'cause it's a killer...

Well, it's said that the lord watches over kids and fools so I reckon Iz got the double coverage...

Man, we didn't loose power as yet. Trees falling left and right all over this mountain but not hittin' no 'lectric lines...

Whew.... sur-real...

I've seen 6 dyas of no power for a lot less...

Whew...

"Iced-in Blues" not that iced in!

Wouldn't want to have to go nowhere 'cause there's a tree on my Army truck but I could with 10 minutes of chainsawin'...

WE just had the first freeze in Stoke, Bobert, but nothing serious yet. The birds have been shouting to put more food out though.

Hullo, Bobert... Been watchin's this thread to see if you wuz gonna get old frozed up. Sounds like you'se still doin' awright. We got frens up here what does that glog stuff every other year... takes a year to recuperate. It's way too sweet for me... and sneak up on ya when ya ain't lookin' on top of it. The next day, everyone thinks they had a great time, but can't rememything that happened.

Good song, Bobert. Maybe I'll write one that says I'm feelin' fine blues. Naaaah... I guess that wouldn't work..

Jerry

Yeah, Jerry, it's all comin' back to me but I got it writ down right here on my song. It's glogg and if Iz had a Norwegian pudder I'd be able to put 2 dotts over the "o" and that would make it per-nouncdercated... glug. Well, that's accoring to these notes that I must have taken 'cause it seems to be my writin'.

Went by there tonight and Neil and Carla weren't there but their guest, Amy, was with her boyfrine, Stone who is a guitar player I'm told. Anyway, I had never met either of them but they knew of me 'cause Carla was singing parts of "Iced-in Blues" fir 'em today and telling 'em how I came up and all. I reckon the song is a keeper.

Ahhhhh, fir any Norwegians out there... Neil who is 1/2 Norwegian told me to sign off with;

Offda...

I don't know what it means but I don't think it means poop or anything that would embarrass me more than my usual postings so:

OFFDA...

Bobert

(khandu going, "offda yer meds again, Bobertz?)

Hey Bobert
Sure would like to thank you for taking all that ice for us.lol
Up in northen Indiana we're a bit cold but no ice as of yet.
Nasty stuff that ice, If I had my way we wouldn't have winter at all.
just spring summer and fall and snow on Christmas eve and Christmas day.Take care walking on that stuff, I've fell a few times or more on it, worst was when I fell right after having a fusion on my lower back . Not a good time to fall. Hope you all warm up soon.

mmm,

Well, I'm with you on winter, my friend. We survived this storm but it got two of my favorite trees, dangit! Yep, I'm real careful walking on the stuff...

Don,

You folks in New York ain't gotta clue. You either get snow or rain. Down here, it's either snow or ice, ice, ice! And we gotta drive and walk on it. You guys got subways and trains and, and and we don't, except the DC subway which ain't nuthin compared to what you guys got. Ohhh! You live out in the country. Opps! Well, if so you get snow. Fluffy, white snow which my 100 year old grandmother could drive on...

Yeah, we may whine, but we are entitled...

Max 29 Celsius (about 84 Fahrenheit), Min 19 C (66F). Bright and clear, and there will be a light north-easterly this evening to cool things down.

Temperatures will build up over the next few days and we'll have a thunderstorm about Wednesday - that's the usual pattern, anyway.

After Christmas it might start getting stinking hot, and the cyclone (tornado) season starts.

Probably about the same as California, but without Californians. :-))

Do you want me to send you some of it in a bottle?

Bobert,

We had an ice storm here in North Carolina Dec. 5 that knocked out over half of the state's power. We had no power for two days. Temp was in the mid- 20's.

Wish I had your lyrics then.

Richie:

I know all about that storm. My wife P-Vine's sons all live around Charlotte with their wives and kids and... well... two of the three lost power for 5 days so all of 'em we're stayin' with the one with the power who lives outside Charlotte in Mint Hill.

Whew, glad to have not been down there when that happened...
