Subject: Tune Req: Le Violon accordé comme un viol From: Leeder Date: 17 Dec 02 - 12:02 PM Does anyone have a written source for the tune "Le Violon accordé comme un viol"? It was recorded by Louis Beaudoin on a Philo LP, also by the Montreal group Barde. Many of my friends learn tunes from print; I don't, and it takes me forever to transcribe something. So I'm looking for a short-cut. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Le Violon accordé comme un viol From: Leeder Date: 23 Jan 03 - 01:30 PM It was also recorded by Jean Carignan on Philo FI 2001 ("Jean Carignan"), where it is given an English title, "Fiddle Tuned Like a Viol", as well as its French name ("un" should be "une", by the way). My next question would be, does anyone know what tuning Carignan would have used? I did an internet search, and there seem to be a lot of alternative tunings for the viol, and no agreement as to what was the most common. I'm not a fiddler, so can't experiment. I could send a cassette of the tune to anyone who wants to do so. I may transcribe the tune myself, but it's slow going for me (not that it woudn't be good practice), and I'd be no further ahead in recommending to fiddlers what tuning to use. |
