Hi all,

This was posted to the Harplist.

There was a burglary at Melody Music, in Houston Texas last Friday night. Many harps, hammered dulcimers and dulcimers were stolen in a well planned raid. The list of items and serial numbers is:

Dusty FH36S Stave Bubinga SN 6296
L&H Lyric mahogany SN 1079L
Walnut R Harp (22 strings) no SN
Venus Prodigy Pedal Harp – dark walnut SN 2896
Venus Premier Pedal Harp – light walnut SN 2975, this harp will have
at least a dent at the top as we can tell they probably used it to
open the door, some finish can be seen at the top of the door, same
height as the harp.

McSpadden Sweet Song Dulcimer walnut SN 4744
McSpadden Sweet Song Dulcimer spruce top SN 4361
McSpadden Ginger Mountain Dulcimer SN 44968
Dusty Strings Prelude Hammered Dulcimer package (case) SN 4802
Dusty Strings Overture Hammered Dulcimer SN 3670
Dusty Strings D500 Hammered Dulcimer SN 3572
Dusty String Masterworks 12-11 Hammered Dulcimer SN 3935
Dusty Strings Apprentice Hammered Dulcimer package (case) SN 4667-02

None of these instruments have cases with them except the HD
packages, all had warranty card attached except the Overture – we
found that warranty card on the floor.

So, keep on the lookout for any suspicious looking intrument sales.

Helen

Thanks Helen for the post. I'll forward a link to this thread to my harpist and Hammered Dulcimer friends. Maybe we can help catch the bastards!

We'll have to get the Mudcat detectives on the trail.

Must be a fairly limited market for these? Or are harp and hammered dulcimer players common in the USA? We don't see many even here in Wales.

Hi Pavane,

Judging by the size, membership and usage of the e-mail Harplist there is a very strong harping community in the U.S. In Oz the community is smaller, but very strong.

Helen
