Come if you can - if not, the next one is on Monday 13th January 2003. Wishing you all positive thoughts for 2003. |

Unfortunately, due to the non-availability of two of our staff (!) we won't be able to make it tomorrow. If things go well we may be able to make the next session ... I'll check with the cast and let you know. Best Regards The Infallible Doctor |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: My guru always said Date: 30 Dec 02 - 04:44 AM Oh No! That's a real blow! No Mummers.... and we were all looking forward to it!!! Ian: What about if we cast about for some substitutes? There may be odd Mummers (Redbournstoke) available to stand in? Possibly???? |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: My guru always said Date: 30 Dec 02 - 05:54 AM Hey-Up our Ross: Thanks for sending the 'Robotic' out! Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: GUEST,Ross Date: 30 Dec 02 - 05:59 AM That's a blow about the Mummers Was that what was featured on 'the hound of the basket cases meets sherlock holmes'? There seemed to be a dragon & father christmas doing a play what they had wrote? |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: IanC Date: 30 Dec 02 - 06:03 AM Hilary Sorry - don't think it'll work ... it's quite central parts! :-( I can, however, cure a magpie with a toothache ... |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Oaklet Date: 30 Dec 02 - 06:05 AM How about a mobile phone conference from Barton to Barton. You can give us one of your musical offerings and we'll return with a naked bassoon rendition of the theme from Q7 or something else utterly sublime. We can open channel D at 9.30pm. Mobile this end is 07740 958783. What do you think? |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 30 Dec 02 - 06:14 AM whats channel d? |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Oaklet Date: 30 Dec 02 - 06:53 AM jOhn, "Channel D" was used by Illya Kuriakin and Napoleon Solo in the hit sixties action series The man from B.A.R.T.O.N |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: My guru always said Date: 30 Dec 02 - 07:33 AM Wonderful idea me old Lettuce & might just make up for the lack of Mumming :-) Satellite link available - heck, no picture text this end - what a blow!!!!! Right then Barton Beds chaps, put your thinking caps on for this special under-Humber & down the A1/M18 event. Forget the pyrotechnics, they've got that covered, along with nakedness & half an orchestra. Ideas???? |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Noreen Date: 30 Dec 02 - 09:28 AM Oaklet, jOhn is far to young to remember the man from B.A.R.T.O.N.! You have got me going though, remembering the lovely Ilye Kuryakin, and his wonderful authentic accent.... Best wishes for your bid to take over the world from North-East Lincolnshire. N xx |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Oaklet Date: 30 Dec 02 - 11:48 AM Thanks Sireen xx. Now southerners listen up. If you have mobiles, I suggest you bring them to your session. We of course, will bring our Motorola transportables with the back-pack battery kit and whip arials. Use my number - 07740 958783 to launch the interactive digital simulcast. If there are more than two of you, pass on to me your numbers so that all of us up here can hear what southern music is like. If you eventually decide to do a tune (rather than witter on about how much your houses have gone up over Christmas) we'll all listen. And then retaliate. We might have to lambast you in a new thread, so please deliver quality. We will endeavour to do the same until the batteries run out. We kick off at 9ish. This could be a remarkable moment. |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: My guru always said Date: 30 Dec 02 - 11:53 AM Omigod, we'll be performing at each other..... Errr, we'd best start practising chaps, anyone got any instruments??? Charging now! |

Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: My guru always said Date: 31 Dec 02 - 05:28 AM Remarkable Moments Happen! Hearing the tunes we know so well being played in a real-time scrolling scenario by our fellow twin-sessioners was wonderful. We sang along when we knew the words & lala-ed the rest... We were unfortunate in that the pub walls were too thick / we were in a valley / the pub phone is barred from mobile numbers. But we coped surprisingly well with the aid of a couple of loo rolls, some wire, several pints of good ale, an umbrella, a Christmas present and some sticky-back plastic. We reverted to plan 9 in the car park. Our small chorus (complete with harmonies) aquitted itself well (we thought) against all odds. Next time we will do better! There are voices behind these keys, and (we assume) faces too! Our pubs have been brought together & squeezed through telephone lines in ways previously unconsidered. All good fun :-) Happy New Year BullCatsAll! Hilary xx |

Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: GUEST,Ross Date: 31 Dec 02 - 04:22 PM Just that the next morning; I woke up in a dustbin behind the Indian restaurant wearing a dress; with the words 'I love Doris' written on my forehead in lipstick & a signed postcard from the pope in my underpants HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ANYBODY WHO KNOWS ME |

Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: My guru always said Date: 01 Jan 03 - 06:35 PM That's the great divide for you Ross. You'd need to get up to some really weird & wonderful things to raise a northern Eyebrow!!! We really should arrange a twinning event, but are we ready? |

Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Linda Kelly Date: 02 Jan 03 - 06:40 AM no -we just don't want to expose you southern types to our rough northern ways! It wouldn't be fair decent or proper! Besides which Oakley is the spitting image of Tom Selleck -he's been known to crush an ego at twenty paces -to travel all that way -it wouldn't be right. |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Ross Date: 02 Jan 03 - 07:56 AM I'm meant no - we are not ready Nerves collapse with us lot at the whiff of an audience I suppose we are southern whimps 'My guru' also looks like Tom Selleck with more sexier thicker tach |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Linda Kelly Date: 02 Jan 03 - 08:22 AM I think too much Tom Selleck is a bad thing don't you? |
Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: Ross Date: 02 Jan 03 - 10:18 AM Mr Selleck said, that, when he came to UK to promote Magnum PI, he noticed that his voice was a higher pitch on British TV It turned out that ITV had sped up the tapes, so they could get more adverts in Poor Tom |

Subject: RE: Barton Singaround Monday 30 December From: IanC Date: 06 Jan 03 - 11:41 AM Thought better of starting another thread, but if you're lost for something to do tonite you could always call in at the Bushel & Strike, Ashwell ... Also, Ashwell Mummers have let me know they would be on for next Monday if their diaries will allow (all are now recovered from Christmas etc.) ... I'll know on Wednesday evening. Anyone interested? :-) |
