Thanks for letting us know, Jendarlin'...I can well imagine how much he is missed. Nice to *see* you just wish it weren't for such a sad reason. Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Jun 03 - 12:58 PM Hey all you dog lovers........Watch Animal Planet, 2:30 Eastern on July 3....the "Pet Story" show is called "Duncan." You'll love it!!! Duncan was a sad story, a rescued Weimaraner, but with a gloriously happy ending. My friend Nancy from the Weim Forum was looking for another Delta Dog. She has Weims, but her Delta dog was Great Dane that was getting to old. She, like many of us decided on a rescue if she could find exactly the right one. She and Duncan are a match made in heaven. The show tells the story but doesn't get into how he is now as the filmed it several months ago, but as you'll see, you can expect the best. Duncan has come right along and is now ready to go to work! Here's few pics of Duncan and Nancy. BTW, another of her Weims, a puppy mill product rescued after a pet store sale that typically didn't work out is now the Number 7 Obedience Weim in the country! Nancy is pretty cool and really knows her stuff (and she actually enjoys the tales of Cletus, Paw, Buford, and the Reg Boys). Watch if you remember to.....it's a neat story. JE....Make sure Angus tunes in!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: Amos Date: 28 Jun 03 - 12:09 PM People can't even communicate effectively with other humans, you think they can with other species? Stupid schmucks continually confusing empathy with telepathy and buying whatever they are sold so long as it tastes good. Sounds like you've been exposed to too many dumkopf "owners", there, JE! Not a good data-set to draw global conclusions from, though!! :>) A |
Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: JenEllen Date: 28 Jun 03 - 10:45 AM Sounds like a recipe you should take to a family reunion, Garg. Oh, the pet psychic thing is such horseshit. People can't even communicate effectively with other humans, you think they can with other species? Stupid schmucks continually confusing empathy with telepathy and buying whatever they are sold so long as it tastes good. So, Jon, I won my dog back? Does this mean YOU will be feeding him for the next three years? *bg* |

Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: Giac Date: 27 Jun 03 - 12:45 PM Happy news! I missed the original thread, but really glad to find it at this point. Best to you, Angus, from me and my girls. Misty is 19, blind and deaf, and sends her love. Emily, who is half Chihuahua, forgives your confusion as to her species and is thrilled about your recovery. How do I KNOW they send good wishes? Why, because the three of us are psych(ot)ic. Mary |
Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: Amos Date: 27 Jun 03 - 11:28 AM There is plenty evidence -- obviously not controlled, and anecdotal -- that communication with the mind of other life-forms is a fairly common event. But, it is better left a private event. For one thing, it isn't going to be rigorously tested anytime soon, you bet. For another, it may be one of those mysteries better left for individual discovery. People trying to make a living out of being pet psychics alweays look vaguely silly, I guess, although I sympathize with their situation. But that should not be used as grounds for dismissing the phenomena. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: katlaughing Date: 27 Jun 03 - 11:15 AM While that woman on tv may go over the top and take in a lot of gullible, I do believe there is a psychic communication between my pets and me. My daughter took in a chihuahua which was too aggressive around small children. I think he was also made very nervous from early on. She can't even look at him cross-eyed without him going completely bonkers, shivering, hiding, etc., then when she gets close he gets nippy, sometimes downright nasty. As this seems to have been his pattern since he was a puppy, from what she knows of his history, she is really at a loss of what to do. Legally she has found she is liable, even if he is in her yard, and bites someone; there could also be some question of liability if she gave him to someone and he caused them problems. She is trying to work with him, as she likes him a lot, but she's really concerned about what he might be like with a new baby around and he's not safe to be around her cat unattended. Unfortunately, what is usually anathema to us, putting an animal down, is a consideration. Sorry for the drift, Angusdarlin' kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: GUEST,Jon Date: 27 Jun 03 - 11:04 AM Yep Elle, you've won him back :-) I've never tried the song with our dog, Misty but she doesn't usually take notice of music. She takes notice of the TV though. If she's in her basket and you say "dogs! Misty" she will look round to the tv and then bark if there are dogs or look at you as if you are stupid if there no dogs to be seen. I've never had the chance to use this to find out whether or not she considers a Chihuahua to be a dog or not. Jon |

Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: JenEllen Date: 27 Jun 03 - 10:22 AM RE: Chihuahuas.... There is one on our morning walk that comes out to bark at us, and if I were a pet psychic, I'd swear Angus' look when he first saw it meant, "It looks like a cat, and barks like a dog? Will wonders never cease...." Much agreed on the pet psychics, for a number of reasons. On the scientific side there would be the fact that to agree to that would be to agree that animals have a 'language' that humans can equivicate with human language, and the non-scientific would be the observation that they don't even know where they are half the time, so the past life regressions are pointless...But I bet that mule sure looked cute in a hat....LOL |
Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: JenEllen Date: 27 Jun 03 - 10:13 AM Jon...Would that be "little Gomez"? (Angus LOVES that song! "Yes, we have no chihuahuas, we have no chihuahuas today....") |

Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: SINSULL Date: 26 Jun 03 - 10:37 PM Rin Tin Tin? Good news Jenny. And I agree wholeheartedly about pet psychics. I saw a particularly ridiculous woman on TV talking to and about a depressed mule. Seems the mule wanted a hat but didn't know how to tell her owner. So ditzy lady just happened to have a straw bonnet fitted with flowers and ear holes and above mentioned mule left happy and contented without any need for Prozac. I believe my comment was "F***in' A-hole". How can anyone buy into that crap? |

Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: JenEllen Date: 26 Jun 03 - 06:41 PM Well, all of the healing licks, laps, purrs, thoughts, prayers and meditations seemed to have done the trick. We ran in today for the final check-up and lab stuff, and things appear to be quite well. Oncology Dave has only one pet peeve (harhar) in this world, and it is pet psychics, and he was on a tear again today, so it went something like this: Dave: blah blah blah, everything's okay. How ya like that, Goosie? Angus: AAAARRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (extend the howl for another three lines or so) Yrs Trooley: What the hell was that about? Dave (with fingers to temples): Angus is telling me that if circles were squares, and squares were circles, then geometry as we know it would cease to exhist.... So we've gone from saving for cosmetology school to saving for MIT, I guess. Either I'm going to have to get MUCH better at cards, or he's going to have to learn to dance the pole for tips. (Thanks everyone for the notes and dog cookies and prods for updates, it meant the world) ~JE |

Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: Genie Date: 10 Jan 03 - 11:00 PM I second what Amos says about trying "tea tree" (melaleuca alternifolia) oil. (Not all organic treatments are harmless, of course, but melaleuca oil has been shown to have a wide array of amazing healing properties, and I know of no harmful side effects.) I am so sorry to hear Angus's condition is so problematic, Jen. If we all visualize that sarcoma growing smaller and disappearing, maybe that will help. Angus is, indeed, a beloved Wunderhund! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Angus}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Genie PS, Sully, Angus is lucky to have a feline nursemaid like you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: Amos Date: 10 Jan 03 - 03:15 PM Oh, dear damn spittin Jaysus, JE, now what?? That Angus has such a planet wide network of admirers they oughta be able to teleport him, let alone reverse a sarcoma. I know, I know -- I'm being unrealistic. This is the pits though, ain't it? I seriously suggest topical applications of tea-tree oil. It has been known to reverse weird syndromes that looked impossible, disrelated and not addressable topically, but it has done it anyway. I can't begin to think why, particularly, but it's organic, and it can't harm. Tons of hopeful and admiring vibes to that amazing Musical Meatball Mutt, who is naturally loved by all who know him. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: JenEllen Date: 10 Jan 03 - 02:27 PM Gareth, thank you, and hopefully Guto's full life is a kind thought to you. CP and Jay, thanks, and yes Maggie, he's a great dog. Genie, Sully is Angus' nursemaid. He handles the licking, based on the feline maxim that when you're sick, your ears can't be clean enough. Funny, but the ears are a very relaxing acupressure point, so Angus gets a daily dose of 'mellow' from his kitty. Jon....You can't possibly think I've forgotten? It is a little disturbing for me, however, because I think I'll need to go to Gambler's Anonymous. Not only did I gamble the dog off, I also lost the cup of pennies that was "Angus' College fund" in a vain attempt to learn how to play poker this summer. It was awful...Let's just say that PeterT is up fifty cents, and Angus is going to cosmetology school instead of Oxford, and we'll leave it at that! Sorcha, the update was that yes, the tumor was a soft-tissue sarcoma. Nasty, and infiltrated enough that we know we didn't get it all out. Chemo won't work because these things rarely spread, but radiation helps. Unfortunately, I live a long way away from the radiologist that I trust, so that option is out. What we are going to try is an antiangiogenic therapy---basically a short treatment to cut the blood supply off to the tumor and restrict its growth. So, we're off to the university hospital so he can visit friends and I can learn how to do the treatment. Thanks all, for the thoughts. ~JE and the Black Menace |

Subject: RE: BS: Good Thoughts-Angus the WonderMutt From: JenEllen Date: 06 Jan 03 - 02:37 PM Thanks MMario, and Kim/Mister/Belle-hersailf too! Well, Kat.... I seriously thought about the siesta thing, but when I left him in the station yesterday? The Dog-Spoilage Levels went WAY up. He soaks up that "Oh, poor doggie" stuff like a sponge, much more of it and I'll not be able to live with him. I took him with me today and he was a great teaching aid in Comparative Anatomy, and yes, he's on his way to a degree in BioChem (provided that osmosis thing still holds true, he snored all the way through class). At least that wasn't as embarassing as when he snored his way through meditation time at the bodhi center and sent everyone into fits -- talk about laughing at inappropriate times-- but it's pretty close. I shoulda sold him to the gypsies when I had the chance *g*. ~JE |

(Charlee & Kazell) all send their love, tongue-lickings, and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Oh, and they want to know, does he get to go to the classroom and work on his degree some more, or just have a siesta in the office?
