Hi,
I'm a 19 year old singer/songwriter, currently working on my first demo and I'm looking to link up with other musicians - anyone out there?

Emily

Hello Emily,
What type of music are you into? I'm a 17 yr. old fiddler(have only played for five years though), and really into bluegrass and old-time, and irish. Folk music of any kind!
Drop me a line, if you get a chance, I'd love to hear from you!

Tom (nickname,not a boy's here!)

My daughter is just getting back into her singing - her last band (rock, but she has sung folk since she was 8) split about 18 months ago when she went to university.

What country are you in? She is in the Midlands, UK.

Hiya Emily! I'm a singer, bodhran player and (when I get back in practise) cellist and keyboardist. I'm 19 on Sunday and hail from near Doncaster in England. I used to be in a folk group called Fireboots, but that split in 2000 when myself and one of the others went to college.

From where I am there are far too many young musicians and singers out here and most of them are a lot better than me,and I hate them all.
But I am really glad you are there because I know that when i finally
admit that I can no longer hack it You Lot will still be out there keeping the whole thing going and giving me something to listen to and enjoy in my dotage.
                Good luck to you all

How refreshing to see some young folks on this site.
Don't be intimidated by the old farts here. You're the ones who carry on the tradition so that, hopefully when I'm 70 I can still find a session to go to.
All the best for the New Year PP

Emily: I'm in East Tennessee (USA), where there is a bluegrass music festival close-by every weekend. Plus, there are numerous folk and traditional settings. Since "O Brother, Where Art Thou," the festivals have started to fill-up with youn people again. Prior to "O Brother," most of the crowd was over fifty years old.
Last night, at a local "opry," there were five acts. Two of them were groups of people your age. It is absolutely wonderful!!!!!

I am 25 and I live in Iowa but I am not as good as most musicans because I can't read music so I have to go it by ear- I usually stick to old gospel Music and olt time and sentemental songs-I play a little piano and a little guitar

For what that's worth.

who says you have to read music?
Listen, look, ask.
Knowing about chord families is useful.
Just do it.
You start with one song.
