I know LOTR is the biggest thing right now in the theaters, and I will see it, but I have to be in the right mood for a 3 hour sit.

Instead, I saw the newest Star Trek Next Generation movie today, Nemesis. I liked it a lot, but then I never doubted that I would. It has all the usual dry humor and wit as well as the good guys and bad guys. Data is the hero, Worf has too small a role, and Captain Janeway has a bit part but has been promoted to Admiral, I liked that touch. I am sad, though, that this will be the last movie to be done. Or so they say . . .

There seems to be nothing on the horizon for Star Trek fans at all. (I don't count the current TV series "Enterprise", in my opinion that is just plain lousy.)

Anyone else seen Nemesis?

Manitas and I saw it Friday.

Was there a plot?? It seemed pretty lame to me... but did like all that black and irridescent leather.....

Data's part was full of humour, loved the 'ladies, gentlemen, and Trans Gender representitives'..... lines. But yes, it was too small a part for Mr Worf. I came home and kept thinking 'well what happened next?'. I found it most unsatisfying and felt that it maybe was an extended episode, but for a film it didn't go in deep enough.

Having said that, the effects were pretty spectacular, although it's now de rigeur to destroy a space ship in every STNG movie, and the costumes amazing (if only I could get into something that leathery...) and it was very enjoyable.

Sadly, the most noticable thing was how badly some of the crew are ageing...

Yes, I fear this will be the last STNG movie, because they are just getting a little too old for it...

It was likeable, Data was most enjoyable as usual, but it seemed a bit thin in some way.

Then again, it may simply be that I have changed. MOST of the things which really interested me ten years ago or even five years ago seem "a bit thin" too lately...like movies, romance, being a "folksinger", hobby kits, Ebay, etc...

I just can't get that excited about space film fantasies anymore. (But that doesn't mean that I won't plug the glorious Shatner now and then, just to bug people...)
