Subject: Searching folk summer school, 60's Mo. From: Peter T. Date: 11 Jan 03 - 10:26 AM This is a long shot, but Mudcat has never failed me yet. In the early 60's I used to go to a summer camp/school near Grandview, Missouri, run by a nice couple whose name I have lost. They had barns and a pool and tennis courts and every day after lunch we had an hour of serious folk music (well, fun serious). The husband was a fine banjo player, and he taught guitar classes in the afternoons. I have no idea what happened to them, but there must have been hundreds of kids who went through that school every summer and learned folk music, banjo, guitar, etc. It was a really classy operation. Anybody out there with any similar recollections or leads I might follow up? yours, Peter T. |
