Subject: RE: Lyr Req: all of the hard times are gone From: Amos Date: 12 Jan 03 - 11:40 AM I don't suppose you could be thinking of "All the Good Times Are Past and Gone"? All the Good Times Are Past and Gone (click) All the good times are past and gone All the good times are o'er All the good times are past and gone Little darlin don't you weep no more I wish to the Lord I'd never been born Or died when I was young I never would have seen your sparkling blue eyes Or heard your lying tongue A |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: all of the hard times are gone From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Jan 03 - 11:49 AM The lyrics Amos posted exactly match those in the Digital Tradition, which also has the tune. I deleted all but the first verse of the lyrics Amos posted. There is source information and alternate lyrics in this thread. But is this the song that was requested? -Joe Offer (e-mail sent)- |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: all of the hard times are gone From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 12 Jan 03 - 03:04 PM Actually "All the hard times are dead and gone" seems very likelybindeed as the chorus of some kind of gospel song about dying. Could it be that the well known song with "good times" is actually a rewritten version of some earlier "hard times" version, with a floating verse slotted in? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: all of the hard times are gone From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Jan 03 - 04:33 PM Nope. We got it wrong. Not gospel, either. I got an e-mail from Stoddard: The song I am looking for has a chorus that goes: |
Subject: Lyr Add: ALL OF THE HARD DAYS ARE GONE (K McKrell From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 13 Jan 03 - 07:24 PM ALL OF THE HARD DAYS ARE GONE By Kevin McKrell, Dráguin Music CHORUS: All of the hard times are gone. It's all beer and whiskey and songs from now on. We'll laugh at the darkness and dance until dawn. All of the hard times are gone. We're all safe and warm here, my friends. The bad times are over. They won't come again. Raise up your voices and give us a song! All of the hard days are gone. CHORUS Well, life has been cloudy and gray. Take the bad memories and put them away. The sun has come out. We've waited so long. All of the hard days are gone. CHORUS So raise up your glasses and sing: All the hard times are gone. Sure they don't mean a thing. If you want to be happy, we'll take you along. All of the hard times are gone. CHORUS [From the McKrells' CD - Somethin' Fierce, October Eve Music.] |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: All of the Hard Times Are Gone From: Jim Dixon Date: 18 Apr 10 - 07:10 PM The McKrells' album "Somethin' Fierce" is listed at CDBaby, where the song title is given as ALL OF THE HARD DAYS ARE GONE. I listened to a sample there. It includes a complete chorus, and the phrase is definitely "hard days," not "hard times." Allmusic.com also gives the title ALL OF THE HARD DAYS ARE GONE. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: All of the Hard Times Are Gone From: Gurney Date: 18 Apr 10 - 07:27 PM Seamus modestly failed to mention that he has recorded the song on his CD, 'On the Rocks.' Excellent CD. |
