I don't suppose you could be thinking of "All the Good Times Are Past and Gone"?

All the Good Times Are Past and Gone (click)

All the good times are past and gone
All the good times are o'er
All the good times are past and gone
Little darlin don't you weep no more

I wish to the Lord I'd never been born
Or died when I was young
I never would have seen your sparkling blue eyes
Or heard your lying tongue

The lyrics Amos posted exactly match those in the Digital Tradition, which also has the tune. I deleted all but the first verse of the lyrics Amos posted. There is source information and alternate lyrics in this thread.
But is this the song that was requested?

Actually "All the hard times are dead and gone" seems very likelybindeed as the chorus of some kind of gospel song about dying.

Could it be that the well known song with "good times" is actually a rewritten version of some earlier "hard times" version, with a floating verse slotted in?

Nope. We got it wrong. Not gospel, either. I got an e-mail from Stoddard:
The song I am looking for has a chorus that goes:

All of the bad times are gone,
It's all beer and whiskey and
    songs from now on.
We'll laugh at the darkness and
    dance until dawn,
All of the bad time are gone.

ALL OF THE HARD DAYS ARE GONE
By Kevin McKrell, Dráguin Music

CHORUS: All of the hard times are gone.
It's all beer and whiskey and songs from now on.
We'll laugh at the darkness and dance until dawn.
All of the hard times are gone.

We're all safe and warm here, my friends.
The bad times are over. They won't come again.
Raise up your voices and give us a song!
All of the hard days are gone. CHORUS

Well, life has been cloudy and gray.
Take the bad memories and put them away.
The sun has come out. We've waited so long.
All of the hard days are gone. CHORUS

So raise up your glasses and sing:
All the hard times are gone.
Sure they don't mean a thing.
If you want to be happy, we'll take you along.
All of the hard times are gone. CHORUS

[From the McKrells' CD - Somethin' Fierce, October Eve Music.]

Hi, Seamus - I moved your lyrics into the request thread because we're trying to cut down on the number of threads being initiated. So, what IS the title of the song? You have "all of the hard days" in the message title.
Nice set of lyrics. thanks.

Bugger! Thanks, Joe!
All Of The Hard Days Are Gone.
Yeah, Kevin writes a fine song, and his band are really hot, too.

The Chorus is:
All of the hard times are gone,
It's all beer and whiskey and song from now on.
We'll laugh at the darkness and dance until dawn,
All of the hard times are gone.

If anyone knows the verses I would appreciate some help.

Gee, Poor Stoddard didn't know we answered the request in January, 2003, when it was first requested. I moved Stoddard's request to the original thread here, and sent an e-mail.
Thanks again, Seamus.

The McKrells' album "Somethin' Fierce" is listed at CDBaby, where the song title is given as ALL OF THE HARD DAYS ARE GONE. I listened to a sample there. It includes a complete chorus, and the phrase is definitely "hard days," not "hard times."

Allmusic.com also gives the title ALL OF THE HARD DAYS ARE GONE.

Seamus modestly failed to mention that he has recorded the song on his CD, 'On the Rocks.' Excellent CD.

They guys who play this most are the Kingston Trio. There are numerous videos of them performing it in Youtube. There's probably a Kingston Trio songbook with their arrangement in it.
