Subject: Poem: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: GUEST,E.M. Date: 12 Jan 03 - 12:47 PM Ode to Ms Rutledge Penelope Rutledge, O Vision sublime! I think of you often, and wish you were mine I think of you tripping down library stairs The sun on your bonnet, the wind in your hair No melody bright could express all you are No vision of light and no heavenly star No sunrise at dawn could encompass your grace No vista at twilight could e'er match your face I sit in my room and envision you now The queen of my conscience, the wave at my bow My ships are all stranded, now wretched they pine No sails on their yardarms, no grapes on my vine My vineyards are barren, my cats have no mice My parrot has sought therapeutic advice My hallway is empty, my phone's on the fritz Penelope Rutledge, I love you to bits! My hopes they are waning, as silent I wait Intolerably distant from fair Twillingsgate If not for thy grace I would plunge from the skies As an albatross falls to his final demise Yet hope springs anew with each stroke of my pen That my words may yet sway you, and move you, and then That together at last we may write history With me beside you, dear, and you beside me Penelope Rutledge, O Vision sublime! I think of you often, and wish you were mine E.M. (Ever Madly in love with you!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: GUEST,Ms. Penelope Rutledge Date: 12 Jan 03 - 08:38 PM I am more and more coming to the opinion that this forum (or at least a significant number of its members and hangers-on) has gone irretrievably mad. I am off to Hull, sir. Catch me if you can, and mind your manners if you do! * PR |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: smallpiper Date: 13 Jan 03 - 07:38 AM Mad you say! MaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaD! no PR they are well beyond that, in fact so far beyond that they are becoming sane again! And you claim sanity - yet you are "off to Hull" ? |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: mack/misophist Date: 13 Jan 03 - 10:22 PM All right folks. I give in. What's this about? signed, Mystified |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: dodgy bird Date: 13 Jan 03 - 10:33 PM smallpiper ms PR is obviously sane for she is "off to hull" not 'ull |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: smallpiper Date: 14 Jan 03 - 05:42 AM Ah yes but the connotations of being "off" to Hull? also as a person of refined in breeding she would never drop her hayches! |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: Dave Bryant Date: 14 Jan 03 - 10:19 AM Ms Penelope Rutledge, I'm sure that if you visited that jewel of South East London, (Royal) Eltham, you would be completely bowled over by that wonderful performer and fine figure of masculinity, Mr David Kenningham. He can frequently be found at that pillar of culture (and listed building) "The Tudor Barn" on a Wednesday evening. The aforenamed building is of course only a short distance away from a royal palace. You will be able to find several likenesses of this adonis at this site. He is at present unattached, but obviously, so many ladies are so captivated by his charm and good looks, that this situation cannot last long. I'm sure that once you have made his aquaintance, both the agressive and overbearingly priggish Winston, and that poor lap-dog Oakley, will vanish from your affections in his favour. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: The DeanMeister Date: 14 Jan 03 - 10:38 AM Congrats on a great site, Dave. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: Mugwump Date: 14 Jan 03 - 11:17 AM It's great that our dave Kenningham is finally getting the international recognotion he deserves! |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: GUEST,Ms Penelope Rutledge Date: 15 Jan 03 - 09:31 PM Dave Bryant - You are mistaken, sir. Your Mr Kenningham is clearly too old for me. Much too old. I do admit he has an impressive shine radiating off his bald pate, computer-enhanced I dare say. This is an unusual way to attract women, but I wish him luck. Well, I had a lovely time in Hull, pedestrian though it may be, and I am now back in beautiful Twillingsgate enjoying a chat with friends. We all agree, Dave, that you are a cheeky fellow and that you know precious little about Newts. Newts are not reptiles, Mr Bryant. I do hope that "Ever Madly" has not cast himself off a bridge into the Humber...but what can one do about hopeless romantics? * PR |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: Dave Bryant Date: 16 Jan 03 - 11:24 AM I must admit that I obviously haven't had a lot to do with newts, Ms Penelope. I assume your knowledge comes from your aquaintance with Winston. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: Jim Dixon Date: 18 Jan 03 - 09:23 PM So, as near as I can figure, this is all about a character in a forthcoming romance novel -- right? |
Subject: RE: BS: Ode to Ms Rutledge From: mg Date: 19 Jan 03 - 12:15 AM the word adonis does not do him justice. Too old? He looks like a man just barely in his prime...(I'm over being in love with Harvey Andrews now). mg |
