Healy, The Mercier Book of Old Irish Street Ballads, vol.3, "The People at Play", pp. 93-96, namely "The Cowardly Englishman" (begins "You gallant sons of Grania, pay attention for a while") and "Coburn's Challenge to Heenan", beginning :You gallant sons of Paddy's land I hope you will draw near".Does this help?? |
Subject: Two Songs wanted..... From: Brack& Date: 07 Jul 98 - 08:15 PM Does anyone know these two songs.... The Mountains of Cooley and Coburn The Boxer. The Mountains of Cooley are in Co. Louth, Ireland and Coburn was a bare knuckles fighter in the US c.1863 Any help would be much appreciated. Mick |
