Subject: Folklore: There was a strange people From: Thomas the Rhymer Date: 20 Jan 03 - 11:55 AM Their heroes are all dead. Martyrs to that 'other' reality of false symbols and temporal impunity... Though many have succeeded by living uneventful lives in obscurity, the vast majority of these strange people long to dance lonely duets in the spotlight while the rest of their small world burns in effigy. Fed on a constant diet of lies and sensational sensual impossibilities, retribution was found predominantly through illicit sexuality and/or drugs... keeping true health a mystery to most of them... What on earth are they doing down there? How can we possibly lift them from the pathetic whirlpool of intergalactic shame that separates these poor people from the rest of the clairvoyant and peace-loving beings of the outer universes? ttr |

Subject: RE: Folklore: There was a strange people From: Thomas the Rhymer Date: 20 Jan 03 - 05:31 PM Daylia, Daylia, Don't go down there Your poem was gifted and lifted a dare I'm all for your posting in succulent rhyme But sometimes replies take a little more time It's astounding to witness myopic confusions As multitudes gathered to interperate illusions Timely and hurried the masses did plunder Just to keep up or shut up the sighs of their wonder More cultural than thou, in that question of taste To the critic's delight, the creative made haste To deliver the products of less menial minds And appearing to hint of the taking all kinds But music sweet music, alive with enchantment Comes from the heart singing in a mystic encampment And I thank you sweet daylia for minding me so And I will endeavor and thus, make it so! ttr |

Subject: RE: Folklore: There was a strange people From: Thomas the Rhymer Date: 20 Jan 03 - 10:15 PM I'm reminded of the time I told my greatest inspirer that as far as I was concerned "it doesn't matter why" she inspires me more than anyone... or was it "I don't care why"... whatever... 'Why' is debateable, inspiration is not... while love is beyond reproach. ttr |

In the evening lite As we spin in our galaxy out Come have your say, free us of spite We'll win with a stomp and a shout Befuddled I speak, uncuddled and meek To a world full of mysteries main Your growth I can seek, for a day or a week Being I rather stupid and plain... Suspicions and doubt, even powerful clout May run circles around happiness But joyous the clout, that together we tout To imagine a world that we bless... ttr |

Subject: RE: Folklore: There was a strange people From: *daylia* Date: 24 Jan 03 - 12:43 PM Thought you reluctant poets out there might find this story inspiring ... "• In September, art student Nathan Banks, 22 (of New York's Purchase College), painted randomly chosen words on about 60 meandering cows in order to see if they would inadvertently line up to form poetry. At about the same time, in England, writer Valerie Laws, 48, did the same thing with sheep (except that she chose the words of only one poem, to see if the sheep could form another poem). An arts council granted Ms. Laws about $3,400 for her project, which she said would break down the boundaries between "literature" and "quantum mechanics." [Tampa Tribune-AP, 12-6- 02] [Daily Telegraph (London), 12-4-02]" What a strange 'quantum leap' forward for creative humanity! daylia |
Subject: RE: Folklore: There was a strange people From: Thomas the Rhymer Date: 24 Jan 03 - 01:36 PM It was brilliantly rural, T'wixt hedgerows and furrows With meanings now plural, Avant Guarde in the yard.. Uncanny, appealing; livestock unconcealing The herd grazing fractile, enchanting a fresh smile But time it did pass, and the animals learned That while dining on grass, some always returned With paper and pencils to ponder new meanings The herd finally noticed the cause for these gleanings So, with a penchant for study, and a need to be heard These farm folk so muddy, found the power of word Metiphorical meanings pranced through their minds Their Paganist leanings soon taught all mankinds... ttr |

Subject: RE: Folklore: There was a strange people From: Thomas the Rhymer Date: 24 Jan 03 - 02:57 PM Yeh, I'know... sorry 'bout that. I was origionally trying to explore the creation of folklore from the imaginary viewpoint of another civilization somewhere, evolved far beyond our own... Out there huh? Well, I like to try new positions, unless they don't work for everyone involved... But really! The creation of Folklore is possible I think, and I'm going to keep trying! ...and I hope you won't go all crabby about it! I'm trying to lighten up, and ;^) ttr |
Subject: RE: Folklore: There was a strange people From: *daylia* Date: 24 Jan 03 - 09:14 PM Well all Folklore starts out as someone's creation, so it's not only possible but a requirement I guess! That's why alot of Folklore is so strange ... weird ... magical ... mystical ... muddy ... bovine ... sheepish ... quantumly fractillious ... ok I'll quit now ... daylia |
