Yup. It ain'y Mo' - it's Mose. I believe if you plug the name "Mose Allison" into jes' 'bout any search engine you'll find most of what you're looking for.

Is this a guess? Or are you acquainted with the specific song conjured up by the lyric? Anyhow, I'll research Mose and see if I can get a handle on it. Thanks.

I bought myself some Mose Allison CDs. Been meaning to add him to my collection anyhow. If his 1968 "I've Been Doin' Some Thinkin'" is representative of his 60's output, he's too jazzy to have been the singer I remembered. And the voice isn't a match either. Think blues. Think black.
