Hi Piers, will their be an interval discussion on the topic of a classless, stateless, moneyless society of common ownership as an immediate practical alternative to capitalism?

C.

Oh my word! What an excellent night! The fortunes have turned for the Friendly Earth Acoustic Club, with a record attendance and an evening of excellent music. The evening opened with a couple of great songs, 'Gareth' and 'Get Off', by club host Martin Dent (check out his new website ). Then the main performers, Janet Strapp and Indie, played a variety of hammered dulcimers and other instruments with lots of strings. The music was excellently played and the set had great variety and imagination. They also finished the evening, with some more excellent tunes and a lovely bit of singing. John Breeze, did a great couple of songs to start the second half, followed by Piers Hobson with a couple of numbers. The other main guests were Rich Pickings who gave us some great old country blues songs. This duo play acoustic guitar and slide steel guitar and have a excellent repertoire.

It was a fine evening all around, the next meet of the Friendly Earth Acoustic Club is on Feb 19, when we have Banoffi , coming down from North Yorkshire. I've heard one of their CDs and some stuff I downloaded off their website, and they are really very good. They play all sorts of tunes with a variety of plucked and bowed stringed instruments, guitars, whistles, and sing some very nice songs.
