Subject: RE: Bagpipes and African drums From: Strupag Date: 22 Jan 03 - 07:43 PM There's several. Most of the young Scottish bands are using all sorts of rythym effects whilst still using basic pipes and fiddle. Try Croft No.5, Shooglenifty, Peat bog Faeries, Wolfstone. There's an other band called MacKumba (spelling!) but I can't find reference to them on Google. There's another track on Blair Douglas's album. Summer in Skye. It's called Nelson Madella's welcome to the city of Glasgow. Although that track doesnt use pipes, it's totally brilliant And GUEST, Bill Up yer 'king kilt! |

I tried to post this last night, but the old server was kicking up: You might be interested in this; it's coming up this August: African Celtic Experience. Also, we had a thread on these guys, but the search isn't working at the moment. Here's their website: Afro Celt Sound System. Great stuff! I'll go look for that thread. kat |
