Subject: RE: Obit: my cat Danny From: vindelis Date: 26 Jan 03 - 01:49 PM More ((((((HUGS))))))From Julie and 'ginger twins' Harold and Rufus. I thought if I had two cats, it might make losing one, easier. Hopefully that tiime is a long way off, but I know now, my theory was misplaced. |

Subject: RE: Obit: my cat Danny From: Ebbie Date: 25 Jan 03 - 06:49 PM {{{{{{{{{{{{BIG HUG FOR MAIRE-AINE}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} In November I rescued a 13-year-old dog gentleman at the Humane Society and just today they asked me if I'd consider taking a 13-year-old marmalade cat too. My idea is that if an animal whose options are narrowing can be given a happy ending that's reward enough, mo matter that the chance is great that there will be an eventual loss to me. But I've got to say that I'm getting back every bit as much as my little dog is. I'm thinkin'... |

Subject: RE: Obit: my cat Danny From: katlaughing Date: 25 Jan 03 - 01:21 PM Oh, I am so sorry, maire-aine. They are so much a part of our lives and so loving; it makes their absence much more poignant and sad. I am glad to hear you have the others, but none can replace the something "specials" of any other, can they? I've been through this many times and still miss each and every one of them for their unique ways and love. Rest in Peace, dear Danny. {{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}} for maire-aine and for Momma Cat and Little One, too. luvyakat |

Subject: Obit: my cat Danny From: maire-aine Date: 25 Jan 03 - 01:15 PM My bright, beautiful cat Danny was put to sleep yesterday, just shortly before his fourteenth birthday. With me cuddling him and rubbing his tummy, his vet took him peacefully. He had been diagnosed with a tumor in his abdomen last April, but he had been healthy up until recently. But in the last few weeks, the tumor had grown to the point that it interfered with his digestion, and he couldn't keep any food down. His vets couldn't do anything more for him, so I had no other choice. I kept a lock of his fur, but I didn't ask for his ashes back. Danny was a big ginger cat with long, silky fur and big green eyes, and he was the most cuddly, loving cat you could imagine. He woke me up in the morning and he went to bed with me at night. He was my sunshine, and I will miss him dreadfully. I am fortunate, however, to still have three wonderful cats in my household—his mother, Momma Cat, and two sisters, Molly and Little One. I am especially blessed because, on the same day that I put him down, Momma Cat was having dental work done that required anesthesia. Because she is 15, I was very worried. But her vet was very careful with her, and she was her old feisty self as soon as she set foot out of the carrier at home. I wasn't going to feed her that night, but she stole a piece of ham off of my dinner plate, so I gave in to her. I think that I was just numb yesterday. Today it's really hitting me that he's gone. I could sure use a cyber-hug. Thank you for listening, and allowing me to use this forum to release some of my feelings. |
