This got buried. I am listening now and it soundes great!! Goodonya RangerSteve!!

Working both days, but Saturday night I've got my usual non-paying music job. Warning: advertisement for myself coming up - If you're not doing anything and have RealAudio on your computer, you can hear me - go to www.wdvrfm.org and follow the directions for listening - the show is called Heartlands Hayride and is on 6 to 8 PM (New Jersey time). I'll be the only clawhammer banjoist on the show.

I am enjoying this! Takes me back about 45 years when dad and I would sit in the car and listen to the Grand Ole Opry. I haven't heard a clawhammer yet. Maybe I am too late, but this is good stuff.

Oh boy, a thread about me and I didn't start it. I'm speechless. THanks for the compliments. The show is on every Saturday, and I'll be part of the cast at least through March, then I start working late shifts, so I'll be on the show only occasionally until November comes around, then I'll be back every week. But the show is still good without me.

For anyone coming into this thread late, the Heartlands Hayride is a live radio show with a studio audience in the style of old radio shows like the Old Dominion Barn Dance, the Renfro Valley Barn Dance, the Wheeling Jamboree, etc. The difference here is that the Hayride only has amateur musicians, (only one regular performer makes a living as a musician). The show features old-time country, bluegrass, and early country-western music. No one gets paid to perform. The show is broadcast from a small church in Sergentsville, NJ and the audience is the best I've ever played for.

If there are any country or bluegrass musicians in the area (Delaware Valley - NJ and Pa) who are interested in performing on the show, PM me and I'll put you in touch with the music director.

I just listened to the rest of it, today, RS, and I really enjoyed it, esp. your banjo pickin'! Good to know we can tune in on a regular basis. Thanks for letting us know.

RS, just got to give this a little more listening attention than before and couldn't believe I missed that great banjo pickin' just before the beginning of the second half. I don't know clawhammer from a ballpien:-) but, take it that must have been you, right? WOW!!! Most impressive and a pleasure to hear! I really enjoyed some of the songs, too.

When I tried to click through to khandu's link, I eventually came to a "We're Sorry! wdvr-fm.asx is no longer available on our server." message along with some other dead ends. Help.

Kat - if it was a banjo solo called "Martians Farewell to Grovers Mill", that was me. (By the way, I wrote that one). Fred - I'll check the site and see what happened. It used to be RealAudio.
