Why don't the dogs of today do white crap anymore?.When I was a kid white DT's were all the rage. My cousin once tried to use one as chalk to write on a wall.

I recently read Peter Ackroyds excellent book 'The Biography of London which tells of an entire industry centred on the collection,mainly by women and children,of white dog crap.It was used in the leather making trade to produce Patent Leather.The substance was known in those Good-old-Days?? as Pure.

This raises 3 questions

1 How do they make Patent Leather today?
2 Should the government set up a committee?.
3 Does anyone really care?.

I think the Patent Leather of today is made from the hide of the Vinylbeest, which is naturally very shiny. That's how the Vinylbeests camouflage and protect themselves. When they are being persued by a predator, they hide in the bushes. Their shiny hides reflect the leaves of the bushes so that the predator is fooled into thinking they're just part of the bush.

This characteristic of the Vinylbeest hide has made the use of the white dog turds unnecessary, which is a good thing, since the white dog turds have all gone extinct. That's why you can't find any of them today.

I think it's because the food they ate was based on ground bones, ie bonemeal.

oh, yes....by all means, have the government investigate and set up a committee....they need something to keeps their minds off PELS.

(Carol...we have very few Vinylbeests anymore,...the Naugas have taken over the territory)

I used to be a zookeeper, khandu. We know about such things.

Bill, that's only in Wheaton, which I understand has become overrun with Naugas in the last ten or so years. I heard the MNPPC is considering a culling program for your area.

Btw, I saw a dead Nauga in the middle of the road with a couple of yellow stripes painted across it this morning. I thought of you.

Yeah, white dog poop is fun, but how about the little piles of (often yellow) plastic chips that you find in the yard come springtime when the snow melts.

Anyone whose dog eats butter dishes or frisbees gets these. As far as I know, they have never found an indutrial usage.

the little chips? They make great Nauga or Vinylbeest feed....(if you feed them multi-colored ones, you get spotted Naugas...and spotted Nauda hides command quite a price!)

(ummm..Carol...we wont tell about the small herds that roam in the parks near my house, they'll be chasing them into the streets and bewildering traffic)

True story...put snow seal on the hiking boots and left them on the hearth to soak in. In the morning, a lonnnng red lace is missing. In the afternoon, dog is in the yard struggling mightily to pinch one off. Why the trouble? You guessed it. Getting it out was like starting a chainsaw.
