Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Leadfingers Date: 27 Jan 03 - 03:40 PM JudeL asked a copper and he said the estimated turn out for the Demo was fourfifty to five hundred And coppers dont exagerate numbers on things like that. Nice day glad we made the effort to get in.Hope it has some effect. |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Nemesis Date: 27 Jan 03 - 05:21 PM Any one got any pictures? One of our lot took loads .. gonna send some off to local press .. website for pictures anywhere? Brilliant to meet everyone .. :) Is someone going to post the pictures we took (especially in the pub) There was: McGrath of Harlow Leadfingers Dave Bryant JudeL Ralphie Hille Rockchick Micca ColK The Admiral Bassic Steve the Orc Woodsy (apologies to anyone who's alibi I've blown!!) ... oooh er.. that's 13 ..who'd I forget? And look out to elcome "Gator Pete" as Mudcat seemed to achieve a good recruitment and profile drive :) HIlle xx |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: JudeL Date: 27 Jan 03 - 06:39 PM Please add Pushkin (steve the orc's partner) to the list , as she was in the red lion although she couldn't get away early enough for the demo itself. there were photographers from national newspapers sucha s the times ,telegraph, guardian and video tapers from channel 4 and the bbc, what they will actually use remains to be seen. |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 27 Jan 03 - 06:45 PM Nothing in the evening bulletins anyway - sneaky bastards, laying on this war stuff, just to keep us out of the news. |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Herga Kitty Date: 27 Jan 03 - 06:53 PM The Admiral and I were interviewed by a reporter and cameraman who said they were from Channel 4 news. So I set the video before going off to Herga this evening - but as Kevin has said, Channel 4 tonight was all about Iraq (and whether the England cricket team should go to Zimbabwe). Sorry I missed the Red Lion, but I had to get back to the office... Doc Rowe was filming the demo - possibly for EFDSS records. |

Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 27 Jan 03 - 07:57 PM Noisiest silent protest I've ever been on, once we got down to the Red Lion anyway. Billy Bragg and Jools Holland seem to have made rather a fleeting appearance. Did anyone see them? |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Ralphie Date: 27 Jan 03 - 08:13 PM Lovely to meet you all...Old and New.. My funniest memory was telling off a young lady Police Constable, for actively enjoying the music. The look on her face was priceless! (Sorry, a few of us broke ranks in the Square, and played a few tunes...Mea Culpa!) And the Sun shone...and Doc Rowe looked silly with a sticker on his mouth...didn't stop him talking though. Even got to play on Johnnie Walkers show.... Ralphie...friend of the stars...! Onwards. No, didn't see Jools or Billy...or Tom Robinson for that matter |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Sarah the flute Date: 28 Jan 03 - 03:36 AM Well done and thankyou to all those who went on the demo. Unfortunately couldn't get out of work otherwise I'd have been there too. Let's just hope the powers that be take some notice Sarah |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Dave Bryant Date: 28 Jan 03 - 04:11 AM I've sent the photo from the Red Lion to Judel - she's going to put all the names on it and send it to Pene Azul for posting on the Member's Photos page. |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: KingBrilliant Date: 28 Jan 03 - 04:47 AM Ralphie - I just knew that some folkies wouldn't be able to resist a tune! Music was bound to burst out somewhere - else you'd have all exploded... Glad it went well. Sorry I couldn't come. Kris |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Dave Bryant Date: 29 Jan 03 - 04:56 AM The photo from the Red Lion is now in Members Photos under Events HERE - thanks JudeL. |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: JennyO Date: 29 Jan 03 - 07:33 AM I had a look at the photo, and, not knowing anybody, I couldn't work out which names went with which faces, because everybody is standing in a bunch, and there are more faces than names. Is there any other way to describe who is who? I'd be interested to know. Jenny |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Noreen Date: 29 Jan 03 - 08:19 AM Very interesting photo, thanks, Jude. Good to see people I've heard of and not seen, or never heard of and should have seen... For Jenny: Jude is holding the poster. Behind Jude's right shoulder is the Admiral, on whose right is Steve the Orc (having drink taken?). Behind Jude's left shoulder is rock chick, Leadfingers is next, hatted, but not obscuring Bassic. Betweeen the Admiral and the Orc is part of McGrath and Dave Bryant. Peeping between The Admiral and Rock Chick are Gator Pete (?) and the lovely Hille. Ralphie's face is unfortunately hidden behind McGrath's raised pint. That help? |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 29 Jan 03 - 08:26 AM Sorry about that! (There should be some other pictures - there was anoher camera there when the group was together.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Noreen Date: 29 Jan 03 - 08:32 AM And as McGrath commented elsewhere: But what about the ones you've heard of and should have never seen? |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: JennyO Date: 29 Jan 03 - 09:02 AM Thanks Noreen, that helps a lot. Thanks. You look like a jolly lot! Pity I'm here in Oz. Well, maybe one day....... Jenny |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Nemesis Date: 29 Jan 03 - 09:03 AM Hmmm .. . yes, I'd agree with you there Noreen and Micca ... I may say it was a tremendous pleasure to meet nearly everyone there and many thanks to those who travelled so far and put so much into getting stuck in for such a good cause. Some of us don't deserve you! My friend Jim from Worthing is mid-identified as Gator Jim earlier and I had a camera there which I'll need to get processed and scanned and jpeged and uploaded ... hum hum |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: Micca Date: 29 Jan 03 - 09:37 AM For the curious, this is what I was scribbling in the queue for the Lobby at the House of Commons click here |
Subject: RE: BS: Met other Mudcatters today - London Demo From: JudeL Date: 29 Jan 03 - 10:37 AM Please apologise to jim for me, when I sent in the pic to jeff I said I wasn't sure what his name was. Having met lots of people who's faces were new to me that day and drinking my fair share of the Adnums perhaps this is not too surprising. Unlike Dave Bryant's digital camera mine is the old fshioned film type which I need to finish before I can get it developed. When I do so I'll see what other pics may be of interest. Cheers Jude |
