I think we should also discuss the good things about that pathetic l'il shrub, so I'll start:

I think that most of his hair is his own.
He's got a librarian for a wife.

I think he's got some humanity in him. I see him welling up with tears and his lower lip trembles whenever he talks about our service men and women getting killed in our wars of agression against other countries. My take, based on the way his face behaved during last night's State of the Union speach, while saying we would do everything possible to minimize the numbers of US troops killed, is that he's expecting heavy losses on our side if we attack Iraq.

But he has signed a pact with the devil and he can't get out of it very easily now ;-)

I don't think they'll try to keep GW in office beyoned the maximum eight years. After GW they've got Jeb. And after Jeb, they've got that nephew whose name I can't remember right now. So that's 24 years total accounted for. After the nephew, they'll have a whole new generation of Bushes to perpetuate the presidential dynasty. Easy peasy.

He likes dogs... He's a team player (if you believe in his team)... He proudly carries and sustains his family traditions... He knows well how to threaten war... He is just about the best 'swaggerer' I have ever seen... He doesn't clutter up his speeches with heady intellectual jargon... His head is in the clouds, but his feet are firmly planted on the ground... He is really good at projecting a 'feelgood' nuance towards people who have most of the money... But, best of all,... and most of all, George has cleaned up the White House's sex scandals, which were threatening to destroy 'fundimental' life as we know it... And he has delivered us from the vulgar notion that politicans should be hard working and well informed about global diplomacy... ttr

He's just a guy.

You're right - anyone can be President. Remember Andrew Jackson & Abe Lincoln? Backwoodsmen with no formal education. The only requirements for President are, you have to be a certain age (I think it's 35), and you have to have been born in the United States. That's all. No prerequisites with state government or the Senate or the House, no requirements for college degrees or doctorates or any of that.

Surely some of you are aware that on September 11, Bush insisted on going back to Washington right away, and the Secret Service wouldn't let him do it. The first thing he wanted to know was if his wife and daughters were safe.

He wanted to go. They wouldn't let him. Then a bunch of people complained about "why didn't he go back to Washington right away."

He carries his own dog.

People aren't always what they seem, and no one can be liked by everyone. But I think a lot of you have the President all wrong. No, I didn't vote for him, but I'm willing to give him a chance.

He doesn't look or act like Jerry Lewis. This may account for the French dragging their heels on supporting his latest war of aggression. I think it's about time to arrange a hit on another French tanker or something like that in order to bring them to their senses...maybe get some CIA guys to bomb the Eiffel Tower, and blame it on Hassan the hotdog vendor.

Well hell, this is easy!!!!

*** He gives good smirk.

*** He has given the term "Ugly American" an actual face...body too!!!

*** He has elevated the place in history of Warren G. Harding, Rutherford B. Hayes, Herbert Hoover, and William H. Taft.

*** He is the first snake to sell his own oil.

*** He is the first president to have his colo-rectal exam make the world news, giving proof to all of what an asshole he is.

*** For the first time in many years, many people have had pleasant thoughts of Richard Nixon and Lyndon Johnson.

*** He brightens the future for all C students.

*** He has been a positive force in the great "Nature versus Nurture Debate".....Both sides claim victory!!!

*** He has proven himself a great linguist, being able to mispronounce words out of both sides of both mouths on both faces!

*** As the all-American boy, he has made his Daddy proud.

*** He has a distinct image. He is the walking embodiment of a dick...not a hard on...just a dick.

*** Being the first president of the 21st century, he sets a standard that only the very few will be able to sink below.

Unlike various Roman emperors (post Augustus), he has never done any of the following, at least as far as we know so far:

Appointed his horse to the senate.
Murdered his mother and/or brother.
Married, impregnated, and then killed his sister.
Declared himself the reincarnation of Hercules, and insisted on being portrayed wearing a lion's skin and carrying a club.
Entered professional chariot races and/or other athletic competitions (and won every time, because anyone who beat him would be murdered)
Entered singing and musical performance contests, same rules, same results.
Paraded around the capital in heavy make-up and women's clothes, and worked nights as a high-class male prostitute.
Ordered the wives of senators to report to him for sex.
Ordered members of the senate who disagreed with him to commit suicide (usually by falling on their swords -- but opening one's veins was also acceptable).
Built himself a palace which took up a full 25% or more of the capital city, with a sprinkler system containing perfume.

Gee, what a great guy.

It was back in the days of the first George Bush that my cousin (a Republican Floridian) said to me, "I think the George Bush is the finest President we've ever had!" I looked him in the eye and siad, "I think he's the finest President since Chester Alan Arthur." My cousin had no idea how to respond to that one, and silence ensued.

He gave me my previous work screensaver - the words of the West Texas Ratepayer's Assn (I hope I got that right) spokesman when George was still Governor & a Democrat was trying to take his job. Both used the same stats to prove diametically opposed statements.

"Statistics will say anything if you torture them enough" - a perfect screensaver as I work with offical (Australian) government figures all day!

My God, I read thorugh this entire thread a "no one" mentioned
on of the most important "good thing" about Bush's character in the land where "character matters".

Namely that he's a "recovering" alcoholic and cocaine abuser.
I mean he says he had his "conversion" when he was 40 which means he was still partying it up during the Decadent 80's while daddy was Reagan's vice pres so there was this "get-outta-jail-free" card always in his back pocket even while he was a "failed" business man.
True ,so was Harry S, Truman ,but then Harry S, Truman didn't have Daddy Bush's "golden spoon" connections. Which is the better measure of character then?
Conclusion: Dubya is "no" Harry S. Truman.

One "good" thing is that as he ages he looks more and more like that worm-like shrivelled prune of a guy that Annekin Skywalker (Darth Vader) had turned into by the time he was finally dealt with. Like GOLLUM in the Lord Of The Rings, the "dark side" had done it's sad work on them both. In just two years as president, look at the changes in G.W.B. ! I can barely look at him these days. Soon everone will be able to see what I'm talking about----and that is why this is a GOOD thing. It happened to The Picture Of Dorian Gray as well. Once again, as in that other thread about Bush, Ahab and Hamlet, real life is sadly immitating art and/or literature.

Love,

Art Thieme (and remember, Gollum gave his finger for you !!!)

The good thing about Dubya is that he left Texas. . .sorta. He sure left one heckuva mess behind. Too bad no one in the rest of the U.S. bothered to pay attention--and the Comptroller conveniently failed to mention it at election time.
