Subject: RE: BS: BookCrossing From: Bat Goddess Date: 31 Jan 03 - 09:55 AM I first heard about it, oh, six or more months ago on NPR. Great idea. But I've got another personal project going on. I've been de-accessioning a lot of books the past few years, mostly giving to friends, selling them or donating them to the town library sale. But some, like the older (meaning 1970s, mostly feminist) poetry books don't have a lot of commercial value. So I've been performing acts of guerrilla book attacks . . . dropping them into the laps of young (teens and twenties) readers who may not have read some of this stuff from before they were born. It's nice to be able to see the response. Linn |

Subject: BS: BookCrossing From: forty two Date: 31 Jan 03 - 07:44 AM Came across an article in the London Times earlier this week about BookCrossing http://www.bookcrossing.com Sorry can't do blue clicky things!! Anyway it struck me as being a great idea - read a book; register it with Bookcrossing.com and release it to the wild and then watch its progress around the world. Some ideas on the web are just whacky, but this is whacky and useful and fun! http://www.bookcrossing.com |
