Subject: Help: what is this tune I heard? From: Mark Cohen Date: 01 Feb 03 - 06:52 PM I've been listening to WKSU's new FolkStream, a 24-hr streaming folk music program hosted by Jim Blum, who has hosted their folk music show for some years. (It's available on wksu.org.)Today I heard a gorgeous simple waltz on fiddle and guitar, and I'm trying to find out what it was, since they don't post a playlist. I got a phone call just as Jim was back-announcing the song names including that one, so I missed it. Funny thing, I first heard it last week, and the exact same thing happened: phone call, and I missed the announcement! I went to the Mudcat ABC page, and here is my attempt to render the first phrase (all I can remember for sure) in ABC notation. I'll try it with and without guitar chords. Anybody recognize it? Thanks much. Aloha, Mark X:1 T:? M:3/4 K:D L:1/8 cd|"D"fad3f|"G"gad3g|"D"fad2fd|"G"G4 cd|fad3f|gad3g|fad2fd|G4 |

Subject: RE: Help: what is this tune I heard? From: Helen Date: 08 Feb 03 - 06:41 PM Hi Mark, I tried to get this ABC tune to play properly but the tune which came out was a bit hard to decipher. Did you ever find out what it was? It seemed vaguely familiar, reminded me a bit of a Strauss waltz in fact, but couldn't get enough of a feel for it to get any further than that. Helen |
